It's not over yet ladies!
Now that (if I'm not mistaken) we've all had our babies, that does NOT mean the end of our forum. Now we have new things to talk about, baby sleeping through the first whole night, smiles, rolling, crawling...we can continue the journey of motherhood and share our experiences together. I'm hoping you all stick around, and I had planned to write this a while ago, but as you all know I'm sure, babies keep you busy!
Well after a 4night/5day stay at the hospital we made it home safe and sound to start our routine of feeding, pumping, then supplementing... It has been fun, yet challenging.
After being home for only 23hrs and I already have 4oz or 4x 1oz supplement feedings stored in the fridge!! The follow up Dr appointment for MarLea today went great- she is maintaining her weight and looks very healthy. This is one happy mommy~

Yeah, it's definitely been hectic around here. We put Lexi on meds for her reflux as well as rice cereal per her ped. It didn't get any better, in fact it just kept getting worse. My poor baby was projectile vomiting! Turns out she has a cows milk protein allergy that I have and we had to switch her to Nutramigen formula. I really wish that I hadn't gotten so sick after delivery so that we could still be brestfeeding. I was even pumping and dumping to keep my supply while I was sick but I was so dehydrated from my virus that it didn't work. It really depresses me because I miss bf'ing so badly.
Have you tried to get your supply back? You still can...pumping and nursing...Mother's Milk tea...it's worth a shot if you really want to BF.

Also try directly the fenugreek seed pills.. The can work wonders for those trying to increase milk. So sorry to hear about your virus- hope you're all doing better now that time has passed a bit.
We're still tripple feeding and working on getting milk supply higher to keep baby fed and gaining weight!!

We haven't bf since 3w pp because it dried up completely while I was sick. Would any of those things work to start me lactating again? I thought once it dried up you were SOL. lol.
I called the lady at my local LLL and she told me to come off of my patch and start pumping every two hours and get some mother's milk tea and put honey in it an drink it three times a day. I think I'm also going to try the fenugreek as well. She said not to expect anything to come out when I pump for a bit, but I pumped and got a few drops of colostrum out of each side. So...I'm super excited! However, I'm going to need a lot of support and encouragement from you guys to get the bf'ing going again!

I didn't have much to start with, but even if I can get enough to where I can give her even a little is worth it to me. I'm just hoping it works. Fenugreek smells like maple syrup...so didn't know that. lol.
LOL wait til you sweat or pee and smell maple syrup! I did for the longest time when I was on it. I didn't know you could take the fenugreek pills AND drink Mother's Milk...it already has fenugreek in it. How many pills and how many times a day are you taking? I was told with Elijah three pills three times a day, that's all I was taking with him.
Do NOT get discouraged with how much you get when you pump, I cried after getting half an ounce a couple weeks ago and I called the LC, she said that the baby always gets more than what you're pumping since they're better with the s*cking. I really hope you can BF again, I know how hard it is to not be able to, I felt like such a failure with Elijah. BUT that's because I didn't know what I do now, and I didn't have as much support as I do now. If you have ANY questions what so ever, don't hesitate to ask and lean as much as you need to...you can message me any time, and if you have a facebook I'll send you my name so you can add me, I'm on there more than here since it's the only way to keep up with friends.

I'm pretty sure my nipples are either going to bleed or fall off. I'm not quite sure which one as of right now. But I forsee it in my near future. lol.
Lol, I think every nursing mother knows that feeling very well!!! I'm trying to keep on despite the pain of it all. I got a lot more colostrum at my 11am pump, so I'm hoping this is good news that I'll have a decent milk supply once it comes back in. I didn't think it was possible to relactate, but I figure if I can get my body to work at this then anything is possible!
I am certain this little one is secretly a vampire... I keep trying to catch those sharp fangs that are surely digging into my nipple before she retracts them, but man is she fast lol j/k.

Lol @ the Vampire teeth! My pump just bit me and my nipples are bleeding, so I have evidence. I'm getting to the point that I hate/dread using the pump because it hurts so bad and now causing trauma to my nipples. I don't think that manual stimulation alone is going to cut it. I'm desperate. Lexi won't latch with the nipple shield often bc she knows she's not getting anything from me. I'm so desperate I even asked dh to nurse and he refused.
Just wanted to point out, and I think this is totally DISGUSTING, but MEN breast feed...Am I the only one who thinks that's just WRONG???
It is kinda gross and weird. I only asked DH because nothing of any consequence is coming out right now and the pump was making me bleed. He said he would haven done it to help me out if I hadn't held up my fingers an hour before when they were covered in blood. lol. He asked me what I cut my finger on an I said, "I didn't. My nipples are bleeding." An his face turned white an all he could say was, "that's some dedication. I hope they don't fall off."
are you sure your pump fits you well? i'd meet with one of your LLL ti see if anything can be adjusted. pumping is not comfortable, but bleeding should not be part of it
Hello again mommies!! Quick question, anyone have trouble getting their baby to take a bottle? MIne will just scream when we try and I've tried both formula and my breastmilk, she rejects my breastmilk faster than formula...thank GOD I don't have to go back to work anytime soon lol!! Hope yall are all doing well!!
We're getting a SNS tomorrow from the hospital pharmacy. The LC told me to nix the tea for a bit an add blessed thistle with the fenugreek. I'm going to get a bigger flange tomorrow while we're out as well an see if that helps. The LC said not to pump again so I don't further damage my nipples, but I'm going to massage them. lol.
Trying- What kind of bottles are you using? When I was having to supplement before we went over to formula only we were using Tommee Tippee and the Playtex Nursers and she was switching back an forth wonderfully. She did better on the Tommee Tippee though. Have you tried the first years breast flow bottles? They're supposed to be similar to breastfeeding.

if you are introducing a bottle for when you are not going to be available, have someone else do it. leave the house when they are trying because many babies will refuse a bottle if mom is around. i am starting to pump this week and will have DH introduce a bottle this weekend in preparation for my first day back at work on 1/29...we'll see how it goes.
