Baby room

Now j know I asked this before... But that was awhile ago! So I will throw it out there again! Has anyone bought anything for your little miracles or started your nurseries yet? I do have to admit that I am almost done the nursery, but I am a bit of a control freak and have set things in mind and wanted to do it myself. I didn like the idea of telling people quarrymen becasluse I never ends up like my idea...I have to do it myself

Yes i am in Canada, We have a public health nurse come out within 24 hours of being home. I was just curious...They just changed it here after i bought our crib but luckily our crib has no drop sides (phew...lol)!!! I did have one for ds and was really sort of disappointed they recalled them all...it made it really easy to get to them.

my bottom raises and lowers as well...but it's just not the same, you are lucky!!

Although, they did change the safety standards awhile ago and some were banned... The ones that they believed the sliding mechanism wasn't safe on. Apparently some children could slide them down themselves awhile ago.
So, the mechanisms are now 100% child proof. The one on ours is nearly adult proof! Lol. I have troubles with it at times.

Dunno how it works where you are, but here, when we have bubs a Maternal Health Nurse visits our home within a week o leaving hospital to check the babies weight gain etc and they actually check the babies room, sleeping arrangements etc.
It's their job to ensure that the childs cot, bassinet etc meets the Australian Safety Standards, and that your home is safe in general.
If not, I think they issue a warning and visit again and if the issue hasn't been fixed then DHS becomes involved to my knowledge.

Yep, I'm in Melbourne (Australia) and the cot meets all of the Australian Safety Standards.
The base of our babies cot is also adjustable, it can be set at a higher level for newborns which will certainly come in handy seeing as I have to have a c-section.
Although, she'll more than likely be in the bassinet in our room for the first few weeks.
Actually, its rare to see a cot here that ISN'T a drop sided one!

We've tried to jazz up her room as much as possible despite renting... We've been looking into buying for so long, but the interest rates here are absolutely terrible!

Thanks... I have had it done for awhile now, but just wanted to wait till more people did theirs to post pics! Yours is so really cute as well! I love the butterflies. I know.... We were renting when we had I had my first son (almost 11) so his rooms were always pretty plain:( so as soon as we bought this house we did his room up for him!!

Just a quick question... You van still use the drop sided cribs where you live? They have all been recalled here!! Good thing I didn't keep ds's crib, just all his clothes :)

I finally got some up of the start of ours too!
Unfortunately we're in a rental so I can't paint or fix shelving to the walls :(
Makes what I'm able to do so limited... Grr!

I'm nearly 30 weeks and have set it all up :s
I'm a bit of a control freak and I wanted our little girls drawers and cot painted a specific way... Hubby just wouldn't do! Lol.

We've kept the walls a creamy colour, but have butterflies and flowers all along as a border... Not in just pink or purple though, we've used orange and blue flowers too and little yellow sparrows... Our carpet is a dark brown but we've got her a purple rug with a big butterfly on it... The rest of the nursery is set out in white, pink and purple with lots of bright colours throughout and purple striped organza curtains over the pull down blinds... I made the doona cover and matching cushions for the rocking chair with a nice hippy looking fabric.

I wanted to keep the room bright and girly, but a little funky too... And I didn't want just pink!

We have her pram, walker, playmat, rocker etc and all of her clothes... It's our first little girl so we're super excited.
I had her sex confirmed by ultrasound THREE seperate times before decorating hehe.

I saw a really cute set for girls online... Google pics of ladybug crib bedding. It has very small accents of pink, but it is a light green and the ladybugs are red. That is the set we were going to get because we weren't into the "pink or purple" either. We were paintin the room green no matter which sex I was so we had to find bedding for both with the green in it!

We are freezing up here as well so it gave us something to do as a family and stay warm! I just went and read my original post... Lol!!! Gotta love spell correction on the iPhone!! What i was trying to say is I believe I am a bit OCD and can't sit there telling people how to do it. I always have to go and redo it myself... Lol! I pretty much did the whole room myself... Dh knows to just stand back and say "what CAN I do"... I will post more pics late on to show everyone! I am so PROUD of this room! I can honestly say I want to send pics to a magazine...lol! I know that sounds crazy but I have waited soooo long for this that I have had it planned in my mind for years! Also with my first I didn't have the finances to do much so know I am just going crazy!!!

too funny! My boyfriend and I were at my parents house and my dad asked if we had started painting... my boyfriend was like "for what"! We all started laughing, because everyone knows you have to get the room ready :)

so in my family it is believed to be "bad luck" to buy anything for the baby prior to the shower.... so i haven't gotten a single thing! not even a cute t-shirt or onesie :(

The room... is a mess! I have a small two bedroom home and the "nursery" at the present time is a guest room with a full size bed, dresser, and two dog cages. There's not "room" for the baby, however I plan to clear those things out to make room for her. She will need a proper bedroom as she grows so i will starting on it sometime in May probably.

I have a crib (hand me down) so all i need to do is paint, redo the floors (they are hardwood) or carpet them, and add her furniture and im all set.

It's still freexing here in Michigan so i'm procrastinating a bit because i want to do a thorough house cleaning "spring cleaning if you will" before i begin on the baby's room. I figured May would be good that way i can ventilate the house while i clean and paint and all the fumes/aromas wont make me sick.

we haven't done much. The twins are going in the room that is the spare bedroom and it needs to be cleaned out - get rid of the double bed and the desk. It is also the designated storage area right now for everything that isn't being used. We have the dressers. We have cribs and a changing table picked out. we have not picked out a paint color. We are probably not going to find out the genders so we will pick something neutral.

I've pretty much got everything except the nursery stuff. This is number 4 for us and we need a bigger house! So, baby will be staying in our room at least until she starts sleeping though the night. Then I'll probably move her into my oldest's bedroom. When we move, she'll have her own room and I can give her a proper nursery.
