It could be your mucus plug. I personally lost mine with my first baby in 2 big slimy chunks in one day the week before I was induced. But, some people lose it over the course of a few weeks.
It might could be semen, but usually that comes out pretty fast after sex, unless you are laying down for a long time afterwards...I used to go to the bathroom right after we did it and sit on the toilet and wait for it to all come out...LOL Well, not when we were TTC - at that time, I'd lay on my back with my butt up and hope mother nature brought it where it needed to go! ;-)
We don't have long now...hang in there!! :-)
lol noooo i was in the shower, and i always go to the bathroom afterwards too, I really did think it all came out at once, but I could be wrong. idk anymore. lol thanks though.
It could be the mucus plug, I lost mines in pieces when I was already in labor (induced). I got up to go to the bathroom and as I was walking pieces started to fall out.
Omg after i got out the shower the other day, well i always put oil all over my belly and then blow dry my hair and i felt something wierd on my leg and i really cant see my thighs but i thought it was hair or something and i went to go wipe it off and it was like slime on my inner thigh like my vagina snotted... Ehh i was like wth..
It seems to me that I'm also loosing mine bit by bit - I have a lot more vaginal discharge these days, snotty & slimy too (sorry) ..
I didn't have this happen w/ my daughter... but w/ my son, yea... I have noticed some of the same things too. It's good to know it sounds pretty common.
I'm glad you posted this question because I was wondering if I lost my mucus plug yesterday during my bb shower (I know it's very late for a shower considering I'm scheduled for a c-section on June 1st) it was very mucusy and slimmy.
I do have a follow-up question....I thought once you lost your mucus plug your water would break. This is my first pregnancy so forgive me if I sound silly.
@Maderella2 hahahaha omg. the way you said that make me LOL literally.
and i don't even know if that's what it was or not. So I'm going to try to stop picking at every little detail and let whatever happens, happen whenever it wants to.
@tjmenez10- My OB told me that losing your mucous plug means absolutely nothing at all. That some women freak out bc they lose them really early, but they can regenerate. I know people who have lost theirs and didnt go into labor for 4 weeks.
Yep, Rhi315 is right - just because you lose your mucus plug, or some of it, doesn't mean labor is immediate. It can re-build itself or it may just be another few weeks before labor starts. I lost mine in two big nasty snotty reddish chunks (TMI) on a Friday and was induced the following Thursday, 6 days later. I was induced at 40 weeks 4 days. Who knows when my labor would have actually started, but I'm guessing not much longer after that since I was already 40 weeks. In your case, you have a couple weeks yet, so yours might rebuild itself and you may lose it again. But, now that you're full term (37 weeks by some charts - 38 weeks by others), if you do go in to labor, your baby will be healthy and ready to take on the world! :-)
Hahaha yeah kinda gross I know... but thats good to know that it doesnt really matter just like dialating... Are there any real signs labor is soon?? Hahaha
Yeah, I asked my Dr. to check me today, and I'm still closed =/. I know that being dilated doesn't mean labor will begin soon, but I feel like, any bit of dilation you can get in before labor begins the better off you are, or shorter your labor will be. I go back weekly now, yay =] these few weeks are going to FLY by. I just know it.
So what does this mucos plug look like?
Mine was blood tinged and looked like a gigantic ball of snot. I lost it in two parts in one day the week before I was induced. Some people gradually lose little pieces over the course of several weeks, but it can re-build itself. They also call it a "bloody show" because of the blood streaks. I forget the actual difference between "mucus plug" and "bloody show" - who knows the answer to that w/out me having to look it up? ;-)
My friend didn't even have a bloody show, she just lost hers in pieces over a couple weeks. She said it looked like string snot. lol ew. But there was no blood. But, with her first baby, she lost it all at once with blood. So idk.
I wanna lose mine darn it! :)
Haha - you'll know for sure when you do lose it! I mean, being that it's called "mucus plug" - it is just that - something pretty much like mucus from your nose but a lot bigger and possibly with blood streaks. It's pretty gross - lol I hope you get to lose yours so you can enjoy the fun, too...haha I haven't lost mine yet this time..but I lost it last time right before I hit 40 weeks.
Yeah I def cant imagine missing a big snot ball falling out of my vagina hahahaha ya i would love to join in on the gross fun! hahaha you crack me up Angela!
I think I lost some of mine yesterday - twice when I peed, I wiped and there was a snot ball - not huge like the last pregnancy when I lost it, just a little bit - yellowish in color. Nothing to write home about - it'll probably re-grow itself and then I'll have to lose it again before I go in to labor - but it was exciting, none the less - a new symptom headed towards delivery! Yeah! :-)
I lost a little of mine on Wed. I wiped too and there was a yellowish snot like stuff on the toilet tissue. I lost my mucus plug with my first while being induced between 2-4cm and I was past 70% dilated so I am expecting to lose this one while I am being induced unless I go into labor on my own within the next 9 days.
I think I passed mine too, in pieces. And I think I may have had my bloody show? idk what the difference is...but it was a blood tinged mucous string. this is all so gross lol
Lol it is I remember how I lost it with my first. I was sitting in the hospital bed with my mom and husband sitting off to my left and I had to get up to the bathroom. I got up and took maybe a couple of steps in their direction to go to the bathroom and it falls out. I was completely mortified lol. Hope that doesn't happen again and that I lose it before then. lol
hahaha I would have laughed so hard if that happened to me, and then made my fiancee clean it up. LOL , jk, but really..
Hahahahahahahaha, I could just imagine my husbands face if I told him to clean it up. I think a nurse came in and cleaned it up.
Oh my goodness! That's crazy it just fell out...lol...well it was pretty embarrassing for me when I stood up to pee for the first time after my epidural wore off and peed all over myself and the floor w/ my husband in the room! I really don't know how our husbands still find us attractive after they go through all of the nastiness of labor and delivery...LOL..I guess it's because of the gift they get at the end - their sweet babies :-) And speaking of babies - someone better have one soon in this June Bug club of ours!!
