quiting methadone cold turkey

i was on opiates since i was 16 im 28 now methodone the last 5 yrs 120 mill but i took it 3 days a week and took neurontine the rest every thurs i took 4 doses 120 and 1 the other 2 i got locked up for 7 days they gave me pills to make me not sick im nine days clean but i prob still feel effects of wat they gave me this morning my question is how long will physical dts if any last and i know the mental effects of paws last along time i heard 3 monthes for every yr i spent my clinic money so i wouldnt get the urge ive come this far and tired of being a slave imma go to na and get a sponser can anybody help me with this question i really wanna do this but i feel my willpower is weak i have an addictive personality i quit for 3 monthes before but i substituted it with cocaine that didnt work cuz i quit the 900$ coke habit and went to clinic last 5 yrs

I agree I was given Gabapentin for RLS and once back in 2010 when I ran out of my pain killers I TOO heard Gaba worked to controll withdrawal symptoms..THE ONLY thing it did was make me sleep but I still had the OTHER, horrible symptoms.
It "May" work for her...Im just saying it did NOTHING for me. and I also think it depends on The person....I have known people that have been on pain meds and went cold turkey and only felt bad for a week....then they were as good as if they had never taken a pill in their entire life??
So I will not say it doesn't work it just didn't for me......

I was addicted to oppiates for 4 years and went through rehab 3 times. I've been on suboxone 2years. And now I'm trying to come off of that. A friend , who is doing the methodone and has been for 3 years , just recently told me about a drug called Gagapentin. Its commonly used for seizures and restless leg syndrome. But, has been used for opiate withdrawals. She is on her 5 th day without her daily dose of 180mg of methodone and is doing GREAT! the trick is to only stay on it a a week or 2 bc you can have some withdrawals from it too,... but its more like mood swings only if you stay on it for a long time. Im about to give it a try. You should realize that the Drs that put addicts on these drugs ...like suboxone and methodone...dont really want you off the drugs bc they get a kick-back from the government. So, do yourself a favor...take control of your OWN life. Its worth a try...??? GOOD LUCK!

I hope you are doing well?? I have been in my recovery from Oxy's and I did go the methadone route/treatment clinic...FIRST off: I never dosed any higher than 40 mil (I used to say Mg's but guess that's the addict in me cuz all my pills were 30mg, 80 mgs) Now I Know Methadone is Milliliters not Milligrams....anyhow...I will be dosing down on the 21st to 25mil then every 10 days till I'm at 10 mil then I plan on dosing down a 1 mil every other day....till they I am DONE!!!
THAT'S my plan ....I have all my vitamins that dr dave recommended I begin taking fish oil vitamin C, it's all in Dr. Daves article..I really want to get back on  amitryptilin I had GREAT success with that back in 1999 for other issues but I'm sure it will help with this and for my sleep...I've  been taking 1 mg of xanax for 10 years now so my Family/Medical doctor said that they are fine to use as I go thru the withdrawal stage of even dosing down I still will have "some" ailments but none so severe that I will crave anything for the pain to go away...
I just want to wake up one day and not take an dam thing, ya know what i mean?? just wake up and go about my day ...That will be the day I know I have won!!!!

what articl? I would love to read it bfore i talk to doc tomorrow. we will be going over my recent alcohol and weed episode. I know no other way than honesty, with or without a good doc.

I recently found an article on methadone due to My own opiate addiction for many years & all of  2010  until April of 2011 being the worst times of my using. I began a Methadone Program and I NEVER allowed myself to increase my dose past 40mg's I stayed at that dose from 4/20/2011 until 8/030/2011 I am now at 30mg I am decreasing in my dose because YOU DO NOT need to be on Methadone your whole life...FROM what I have educated myself on with Methadone.
I have an article i would love for you to read about Methadone and HOW all it does is keep us in a Constant  state of Withdrawal no matter like myself coming down it doesn't matter i will STILL go thru BS withdrawals....theres only one way and that is cold turkey along with NON addicting meds such as described in the artcle im sending...I hope it helps you as It did me on the importance of knowing what to expect from methadone. good luck STAY STRONG you're so young please beat this and all addictions now before you are my age!! READ & RE READ it as I did to gain a better understanding of it....
