Concerned about the weight of my baby due Jan 25th*

Hi everyone. I just wanted some advice because I am so anxious with the birth of my son coming up. I am 36wks and the sonogram said my son is 9 lbs already. I am very concerned because I still have 3-4 wks to go and this is the month where babies can gain .5 1 lb/week. My first pregnancy was down the same route as well, but not this much. My daughter was born 10lbs and gave birth to her vaginally but it was the most terrible experience I had to go through. I simply could not push her out and the Dr  even cut me so she could fit, yet I still tore.. Dr pretty much pulled her out because I was barely getting her down. I know sonograms are not accurate but with my daughter it was saying she was 9'13 and she came out 10lbs. This is just so over whelming and I realy do not want to wait till Jan 25th because my son can gain more weight making him to be 12 lbs. If I couldn't even push 10lbs out how in the world could I do that? Ugh, I am definitely stressing. Any advice would be great - or someone who went through this. I just don't want to go through another horrible delivery.

Thanks everyone. I am just concernced because at my last sonogram (38wks) the ultrasound came back saying my son weighs 10lbs 11oz and I went back to talk to my Doc and she said that he isnt big, hes huge. her own words. She said that they are not allowed to induce before 39wks because of a large baby, but I am just very anxious because is he going to be okay for being that large? I am scheduled to have my c-section on jan 18th (3 days) but I feel since I have been waiting more and more days, he probably is going to be well near 12lbs. I just hope everything is going to be okay for him for waiting and putting on more weight. I am hoping these ultrasounds are wrong by a pound or two!!!

My doctor said ultrasound estimates can be off by up to 2 pounds, so I wouldn't completely panic yet, but I definitely agree that I would want to have a more frank conversation with my doctor about my concerns given your previous experience.  Good luck!  I'm due the 25th, too!  :)

I has an ultrasound at 36 weeks and was told there is a +/- of 17 ounces. Scan showed 7lbs 4 ounces, so baby could be roughly 6 pounds 3 ounces to 8 pounds 5 ounces. But she said baby looked and measured big.. I am having a c section at 39  weeks (I week from today) so we will see how big he is.

I agree, discuss this with your Dr. Try and walk like waitn838 said, go up and down stairs, eat spicy food, intercourse - they are some ways which may help. My daughter was estimated to be 3.7 kg on the day I was induced, she came out 4.06 kg at exactly 39 weeks, with this baby I was told last week 3.2-3.3 kgs, ultrasounds as you know can be way off. I also had a natural tear.

Definately talk to your Doctor about it as usually if you have history of a very big baby and they have already seen that your baby now is quite big, some offer a c-section.

i would discuss your concerns with your doctor and see what they say

if you want to get things moving i would start walking around alot....once you hit 37 weeks your baby is considered full term
