Is there any significance to an unresolved. Cyst?

Back in feb 09 I was diagnosed with a 8x7x4cm complex cyst, a right multilocular septated complext cyst. I set up surgery for March. When he went in I had not had any scans during the waiting period and when he went in he found a cyst only on my left side of which he took out my ovary with it. Come to find out only a couple months later that the cyst was back on the
right side. Suffice to say I chose to wait this one out. Every US, CT and MRI since has revealed the cyst. Aside for 1or two times (being smaller)It has remained relatively stable in size. Now it measures 7x6.3x5.6. Same structures, with a bit of change. A multilocular septated complext cyst but now with Hemorrohagic changes just of recent. With this excrusiating pain I experienced I landed in the ER rethinking surgery. I have had a new doctor since the summer of 09 after the surgery.. He hasn't done any CA125 just CEA which has come out varied from 5.6 - 7.7 - 8.7 -9.9 - 7.9 - 6.9 last taken in aug 11. My health over all has declined, although I was diagnosed with SLE I have not had but some what mild symptoms. The only persistent and annoying (which I don't know what is due to, is nausea, fatigue, pain in both my lower back and my pelvic area. I have a h/o cervical cancer in 97 and had a radical hysterectomy. I have been trying to find out something (anything) about unresolved complex cysts and if there is a higher probability of cancer or if it is just something people don't do (to wait) so there is no reference? My Dr has made it clear that he will not know if it's cancer until pathology during the operation. But I think logically, although I feel worse, I would think if it were cancer there would have been SIGNIFICANT change in 3 years. My laparotomy, frozen section and GPS's for adhesions is set to take place  3-31-12 (next week). He is going to TRY to save the ovary.  They dont even know if its in the adnexa or ovary. There is a lot of confusion pertaining to that. But if its in the adnexal area could it be unrelated to the ovary? What really are the chances of cancer?  and are they made higher from waiting really? After 3 years of carrying the lesion/mass I would think cancer would be OBVIOUS!

I'm new on this post also, but I'm also going through pretty much the same thing.  I have a complex cyst not ruling out neoplasm on the left ovary that is 5cm at this time.  I started having severe pain last October 2011 and just now doctors have decided it's time for it to come out.  I'm having surgery Monday.  It is then that they will determine if its cancer or not.  Even though my CA125 has come back normal 2 times that does not rule cancer out.  I hate that everyone is even having these problems and am sorry that you had to have a partial hyster. at such an early age.  I too had a partial hyster. but because I was around 35 doctors left my ovaries in.  I am now 49 and hoping for good news.  My gynecologist ended up referring me to a Gyneologic Oncologist to have this surgery who will be using the Di Vinci Robotic Surgery to remove the cyst.  I hope that everything goes well for you and will left up a prayer for you.  Thank you for posting so that I could feel better that I can relate to someone.

HI, Wow! I hate to hear you are going thru this. I really dont have any advice for you (i wish i did) but i am going thru almost the same thing you are. I had a partial Hysto in 94. Both ovaries where left because i was only 19 at the time. So here i am today with 3 and half years of right and left sided cysts, sometimes hemorraghic, sometimes simple, sometimes who knows. some times it on both sides, some time i think my ovaries draw straws to see which one get the cyst this time :-(   But i went to the ER with left sided lower Abdominal pain (i was thinking diverticulitis) and come out with a "possible cancer" diagnosis 7 hours later. With referrals to cancer clinics..needless to say, im petrified! CT scan showed 11cm x 6cm herterogenous mass in the adnexa, not ruling out neoplasm. i am going Tuesday to have this looked at by another MD to try and work this out. I wish you the best of luck and even though i dont know you, i will be praying all prognosis come out great for you! I posted here a couple days ago, and cant seem to get any responses to my questions, i dont know if anyone is here anymore or not, but i wanted you to know that you are not alone.

god bless and take care!
