No, you cannot feel your groin lymph nodes. So, if you can feel them, they are definitely swollen.
Yes, chances of cancer are less, it was mentioned as a differential since I cannot examine you. But now that you explain more about the consistency etc, chances of cancer are pretty minute (almost nil--cannot give you 100% guarantee on net).
Hot tubs are known for Pseudomonas aeruginosa (a bacteria) infection, and usually this causes a rash, but it can cause infection of head of penis, infection of urethra and may be even prostatitis if the bacteria travel up through urethra.
Creatinine and high protein diet is less likely to cause burning. However, drinking water can help relieve symptoms. Also you can try apple cider, cranberry juice and lemonade. All these also help relieve burning sensation.
Hope this helps. Take care!
Thanks Doctor. Just had some quick follow up questions:
1) As far the lymph swelling goes, should i be able to feel my lymph glands in the groin normally? Or if I can feel them, does that mean they are definitely swollen?
2) The lymph glands are squishy and can be moved around (not hard). It is my understanding that this would make it less likely that cancer was the culprit, corret? I am also 30 years old if that helps.
3) I was in the Ocean, hot tubs and swimming pools in the weak leading up these symptoms. Also, I took a dose of creatine supplement for the first time in a while the night these symptoms occured. Could any of these factors or possibly a high protein diet be causing my problem?
Thanks again.
Hi!
I can appreciate your concerns. However, a confirmed diagnosis is not possible on net. Your symptoms could be due to several causes as I’ll outline now. Since lymph nodes in the groin region (inguinal lymph nodes) are swollen, the cause could be infective, inflammatory or cancer. Since there is burning in urine, your symptoms could be due to chronic UTI or due to prostatitis. The infection could be a STD, bacterial or fungal. Since you feel the burning pain more in the morning (it can be bladder infection) and since there is burning on passing urine after ejaculation, it can be prostatitis.
Swollen inguinal lymph nodes could be due to STDs (e.g., gonococcal infection, herpes simplex virus, syphilis, etc), infection in foot, sweat dermatitis on scrotum or groin, fungal infection of scrotum or groin, dermatitis in pelvic area, boils in pelvic area etc. Other than this tuberculosis, pelvic malignancy and lymphoma could be the other causes.
Also, it is difficult to ascertain whether cipro will help or not unless you have a confirmed diagnosis. Sometimes you may have to take antibiotics for 14 days before full relief is felt. If your symptoms do not subside after taking cipro, then you need to wait for at least 72 hours and then give your urine and semen sample for culture and sensitivity analysis. This will tell you the organism causing the infection and the antibiotic which will act against it. So, after the full course of cipro, apart from urine culture and sensitivity, you may need to test for STD, semen analysis for infection, clinical examination to rule out fungal infection or dermatitis. Sometimes, for chronic bladder infection, the first urine sample after night is the best sample to test for infection.
Today check your foot to see if there is an infection which could have caused the inguinal lymph nodes to swell.
At times stone in urinary tract too causes burning in urine. Since you had flank pain earlier, this could be a cause. So, if all the other tests are negative, you may need a CT or ultrasound of lower abdomen and pelvis to look into this. Cuts and abrasions on penis tip or infection of the head of penis too causes burning in urine and can be ruled out by clinical examination by a doctor.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Also, I sincerely hope you will find this information useful in helping you decide the future course of action.
Hope you get well soon! Good Luck and take care!
