Some doctors won't check for cervical dilation at all and others leave the decision up to you. Personally, I don't want to know. It really doesn't tell you when labor will start. You can be dilated for weeks. With my last pregnancy, I was 4 cm dilated for 6 weeks before I went into labor at almost 41 weeks. With this pregnancy, I'm 36 weeks and refused to be checked at my last appt. I just don't see the point in having the doctor check every week, labor will start when it starts.

You need to not be afraid to speak up. Talk to your Dr. tell them you want to know the progress. Tell them you're having contractions.  Be more aggressive.

I'm 39weeks but I haven't had a strep b test I don't think. What is it?? My mw hasn't examined me at all other than normal stuff like checking his position, the usual stuff. I have been contracting on and off for a bout a week but haven't been seen so don't know the situation with my cervix at all.

We are the same amount I've been checked 3 times already
You have to ask!
I ask every time or else they wouldn't do it
Just say you've been feeling a lil crampy and wanna be checked :)

Your doctor should have checked you at 37weeks and did your doctor do strep b test....
