Sorry to read of your problem. If your pain is related to your sling, It should hurt at the area of the sling. If you are having pain some where else in the vagina, the urogyn may me correct. As women age, the vaginal tissues become thin and don't tolerate intercourse well. Topical vaginal estrogen helps this issue a lot. As far as removing the mesh, sling, goes, depending on what was place, TOT transobturator, TVT transvaginal, or Single Incision Sling, removing "All" the mesh can be challenging. I would suggest you get a second opinion, maybe from a Urologist and see what they say. In addition, UTI's after intercourse can be treated as well. J. Kyle Mathews, MD
thank you so much for answering my post :) i had the transvaginal type...i also wanted to explain that the UTI's have only been happening every time just this past year..since they took some mesh out..ive had them before, but only during my pregnancies..the pain i have during intercourse IS the side the mesh is still on but my doc did recommend a cream type vaginal tablet that gets inserted..i tried this for the 2 weeks he said to and the pain and infection came back right after sex again...a second opinion is great advise..thank you again
