Want to order the Western Blot

Hello Terri,
I am posting in hopes you can help me obtain the western blot so I can have a final answer as to what my symptoms have been all about bc I am definitely not living my life how I want and I believe this test will give me the most definitive answers as to if I have hsv 2 or not.
I am now 17 weeks out from possible exposure so I'm guessing that would be a good time to do this test. However I do not plan on taking the test until next week because I'm going to be graduating from college this weekend and then moving back home. So it will be drawn at 18 weeks.

If you can let me know what you think and help me set that up That would be great.

Thanks so much,
Broken.

Thanks terri. Unfortunately ive been having groin and legs pains as well as random itching in the genital area. From what i know about hsv  it seems those are symptoms.
I know my test, a very good test at that, was negative at 19 weeks. Would you say its a definite conclusive result and the groin issues are not related to hsv? Sometimes i feel super relieved and other times i question it. I told myself i would end this once and for all when i got the western blot but the weird pains in my legs tell me otherwise. Any input would truely be helpful and thanks again

I'm happy for you and glad we could help you.
I know of nine people in 32 years of practice who tested negative by western blot and positive by swab test.  I don't believe we have any reason to think you are in that group.

Hello Terri just wanted to post to you my results from the WB. They were negative! Very pleased and happy I just thought I'd let you know what the results and thank you so much for all the help You've given me and so many other members I can't put it in words how great of an asset you are to people in this world.
I did have one last question if you could answer that'd be appreciated.
I believe since you told me 18 weeks would be the perfect time to test I'd imagine you believe that because it is among the rare if anyone were to become positive by WB at 18 weeks? Have you ever heard of it happening?
Thanks again so much

Then you'll just have to go and have your blood drawn and wait and see.

Yes.  They are are not sending you a kit though, I doubt. Are you sure they didn't order you a test at a local Quest lab?

Hey Terri just thought I'd let you know I talked to Lisa at west over heights today and they are sending me the WB kit. I want to know if you can keep this tread open so I can post my results when I get them. She said 2-3 weeks is the approximate time I'll have to wait.

Thanks a lot you've been so much help

I'll keep you posted

White heads on the thighs are not consistent with the presentation of herpes.

Thanks so much i talked to them today and i have a phone consultation with them tomorrow.

Just a quick question today i had a red bump with a white head on my inner thigh, i popped it and the white puss came out and as paranoid as i have been and read hsv can present like a pimple i was wondering and making sure that hsv leaks clear liquid and not white puss so its probably more likely to be just a white head and not an hsv lesion correct? I do get those from time to time the thing is my leg itched and thats the reason i noticed it.

If you could give me some info on that id really appreciate it
Thanks terri!

You can either contact the University of Washington and have them send you a test kit or you can have our clinic order the test for you by becoming a phone patient.  Both work.  Your timing is perfect to get the test.  I hope the test allows you to rest more easily about the question of HSV 2 infection.
