There is a study that showed a link between flight attendants and increased miscarriges. It was postulated that they are exposed to more cosmic radiation by the high altitude flying. My opinion is that 6 flights before 10 weeks is indeed too much flying. I would suggest cancelling all those flights. Once again this is an opinion, not necessariliy based on scientific evidence but some suggestions by the flight attendant's increase risk of miscarriage.
The endometriosis and flying, I cannot make an association with these.
Don't fly...
I was 6wks and took a 3 hour flight. Shortly after take-off I started feeling abdominal pressure. Over the next 24-48 hrs I started bleeding (and was of course away from my Dr.). The bleeding slowed & when I got home we saw a heartbeat & "severe hemorrhaging" on the u/s so they suggested bed rest for a week... the follow-up u/s showed a miscarrage possibly related to a blood clot under/ behind the placenta.
The first thing my Dr said in the f/u appt. was she doesn't like women to fly in the first trimester (I'm a little peeved b/c I called her office to ask if it was okay and they gate keeper said "sure, no problem")... it's a hard thing to study b/c length of flight, how far into pregnancy & other things can confound the research but I'd say better safe than having to carry the responsibility of a m/c on your shoulders.
In the back of my mind I wonder if it was actually the flight or hoisting my suitcase up for xray & to put in the overhead... but there was something that went very wrong between leaving the house and arriving at my destination.
I've been dodging business trips now that we've started TTC again... it's awkward but so was telling my new boss (I'd been in the job 4 weeks when I was put on bed rest) that I would be out of the office for my entire 5th week of work!
thank you all for your advice. After asking parents and doctors, I got an overwhelming "don't fly" from everyone except one doctor who only said i should wear "pressure socks". so i decided to cancel the business trips and luckily i had an understanding boss - although her second question was: " should we be changing your contract?"
I feel good about my decision though. Like Yogachick said - if something were to happen, whether it was related to the flying or not, i would have felt very guilty.
