I am suprised that you say that you have gone to specialist and have not found out why you do not have periods. I suggest that you see a Reproductive Endocrinologist to determine why you are not having your period. If you never have had a period before then you have a diagnosis called primary amenorrhea. You should evaluated by your history such as determine if and when you have pubic hair, determine if and when you had breast development, determine your weight and height and exercise history, and eating habits such as anorexia. You should be checked to see if you have a uterus and ovaries by pelvic exam and ultrasound. You should also have your hormones checked like FSH, LH, Estradiol, Prolactin, TSH, free T4, see if there is a hormonal reason for no periods like premature ovarian failure, or hypothalamic hypogonadotropic amenorrhea. This is just a start and they can all be done by a Reproductive Endocrinologist who are all trained to do a work up. So, I recommend seeing one.
Hi Dr. I just wanted to say thank you for your comment. I also wanted to let you know i have had my hormones checked they have found everything to be OK and i have had my thyroid checked that is OK also. I have have multiple Internal ultrasounds as well as external ultrasounds. They have found everything there and in place although my uterus is smaller than it should be, possibly underdeveloped. My ovaries are OK also. I have been on birth control to try and start a period. But no luck its been about a year. I stopped taking it about a week ago because i think the side effects and the weight gain is just not worth the hassle and i don't even know if i need it. They have even put me on a Estradiol pill to start a period with no luck. The specialist i have been seeing is waiting on me to come up with the money for them to do a procedure to see if my tubes are producing eggs. I guess that will answer my questions. But like i said before i appreciate your time and your input. Thank you.
