Hi,
PPD and sputum are not exactly diagnostic, especially in the Philippines and other Asian countries where TB is endemic. PPD may be positive even in people who do not have active disease, and sputum may be negative for TB even in patients with active disease.
Do not let this confuse you. An experienced practitioner will probably be able to interpret the images and reports appropriately and decide about the need for anti-tuberculous therapy.
Good Luck!
Hi sir,
I got the result of my oblique view of the chest x-ray. Our family medicine doctor who is head of the Employees clinic does not appreciate the the x-ray films despite of the official report made by the radiologist that its still show the granuloma in my right upper lobe. For him my chest is normal,he asked me to asked other radiologist but all of them says its granuloma nad they see it in the oblique view,I'll informed him on Friday regarding the opinion of the other radiologist and if he still insist not to refer me to pulomonologist I'll asked for medical prove that my chest findings is normal. But I'll still seek medical opinion to a pulmonologist o saterday, just to have peace of mind and if its granuloma I'll give a copy to our family medicine doctor just to prove that he just can't ignore the official reading of our radiologist bec.on the first place his not a radiologist to tell me its normal despite the x-rays result.Thank you so much for your time. I'll give you update about my condition once its final.God bless..
Hi,
Your imaging is suggestive of infection in the lung (a "granuloma" is a pathological diagnosis). In Asia, TB is the common cause of this.
Please get the opinion of a good chest specialist, who may like to order some tests including sputum for acid fast bacilli to determine if you are infective.
This is a treatable condition in most cases, so do not worry.
About you being medically fit to work in other countries, it depends on the exact xray findings and other medical details.
All the best, and God Bless!
Hi,
That is good news!
All the best!
Hi Sir,
The result of my PPD and sputum are both negative. My doctor decided not to go for medication yet.I'll have repeat Ct scan of the chest on the first week of September.
Hi sir,
The pulmonologist agrees with the result of my chest x-rays and the ct scan of the chest. She wants me to take the PPD testing, I think its a kind of skin test for TB and sputum exam. I'll have the PPD on thurs.Thank you so much for your help..
God Bless.
Hi,
Let me know what the pulmonologist feels.
Good Luck!
He also wants me to come back if ever I will have cough. I don't think I should wait for that thing to happen to me if everyday i interact with different kind of patients.
Hi,
Let me know the result of the xray and the second opinion.
TB is a common and treatable infection, and lung shadows tend to improve with time (and sometimes disappear) in many treated cases.
Good Luck!
Thank you for your answer sir. The family medicine doctor in our hospital wants to have an oblique view of my chest he thinks its njust a vessel. Tomorrow I'll have the result for the oblique view. If he still does not refer me to a pulmonologist, I personally will seek a second opinion to a pulmonologist and show the ct scan together with the other xray plates I have. He told me either I'll be positive for sputum or not I still undergo medication for ant-TB.thanks a lot for your answer..Good Bless
