Dogs are pretty special, aren't they? This is "Axel" and we rescued him about a year ago. He was found in the mountains, in a little hole he had dug, either to try and stay warm or to die. He was very young, just weeks old, frozen, starved and he had been beaten so badly, it was horrible. Two of his legs were broken, most of his ribs and he'd also been shot twice. That he lived through all that only begins to tell you of the spirit he has. He is a very quiet dog and will often stare off at things only he can see. I sort of caught that look in this picture. I often wonder if he is thinking about his littlermates, who no doubt suffered the same fate he did. But, he is fat, healthy and very, very loved now. His outter wounds have healed and we can only hope that all our love has healed the hurt inside.

I am sorry lydia ... I dont mean to be creepy! lol I saw one of your responses on the forums and really liked the way you spoke. I tried to find you to send a friend request ... and noticed you had a pic of the wicked witch, I wanted a closer look, and discovered your dog here!! He is beautiful. The story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming! If only most humans could have that much will to live and survive!!
