A close acquaintance used Meth during pregnancy, I'm not sure how much since I thought her actions before even getting pregnant were not someone I wanted to be friends with, so we quit talking. I heard she used in moderation when using during pregnancy, if that isn't an oxymoron. Anyway, what I'm getting at is, she had to deliver a stillborn baby at the hospital. The horror of giving birth to your child dead, is something I could not imagine. She had the birthday and funeral the same day....how selfish can we be, as human beings, to want a drug over a life growing inside you?
Wake up OP, there is a chance you might be the woman I write about someday?! Please stop being selfish, a life needs you.
Meth during pregnancy can be very detrimental to the baby. It can cause a baby to be very small at birth or to be born very premature. It can also cause multiple various birth defects. Bottom line is you must stop using ASAP.
Meth is difficult to get off of because of the fatigue you feel while your body recovers. Can you ask your family for help for a few days? You can tell them you are sick if you want to keep your situation private. Also talk to your OB to see so s/he would keep a close eye on your baby. While the withdrawal itself may not be dangerous, withdrawal symptoms are common with heavy use and relapse is common. Methamphetamine-induced hyper-stimulation of pleasure pathways can lead to depression and fatigue months after you stop using. It is possible that daily amino acids L-tyrosine and L-5HTP/tryptophan can help in your recovery by making it easier for the body to reverse the depletion of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin.
It is important for both you and your baby that you get clean, you know this, or otherwise you would not be reaching out. Eat healthy, stay away from simple sugars and sodas, take a multivitamin every day. Force yourself to take daily walk or do some form of moderate exercise and stay intellectually occupied.
Good luck to you.
