Struggling

After 5 weeks of having morphine, oxycodone and codeine for pain I am finding it hard now the pain has gone and the pain killers have stopped, why are the withdrawals so bad after only 5 weeks,
The cellulitus still looks gross, but it is healing slowly,it affected my whole leg but at least the pain has subsided.
Still behaving with the alcohol, too sick to drink anyway LOL

I'm off all morphine based pain killers,my regular doctor freaked out when she found out what I had been taking for 5 weeks, and of course she refused to give me a script for anymore, LOL,now why would that be? LOL

The infection has flared up again so I am back on antibiotics,it's not as bad as it was though,I'm not in any pain this time, probably because I got to it quickly.
I am doing really well though, the withdrawals are gone and I feel great, just my leg looks bloody awful.I have been told the scarring will take months or even years to subside and will probably never go completely.
Bummer,Oh well I still have my leg so that's what's important.

Hey Narla, I just dropping by to see how you are feeling? I hope your leg is doing good and that your withdrawals are getting more managable. Take care my friend!

I'm not seeing a therapist right now,and I can't go back to the gym until the leg is totally healed, all the pain meds are out of the house now,but I am taking normal paracetamol for the rebound headaches, and my doctor who saw the red flags when I asked for a script for codeine is seeing me twice a week, more if I need too,Hubby is being very watchful as well,so I do have support,it's just that I forgot what withdrawals were like and I'm not liking it one bit.Back to one day at a time, and working hard.

You were given some real heavy pain meds and that is why you are wd'g now.  I am more worried about what the mental part of this will do to you.  Are you still seeing the therapist?  I would imagine your workouts have stopped right?  When can you begin those again?  This is the time when you have to be really careful narla as your addiction will be calling your name.  Are the pills gone now?  If not you need to get rid of all of them.  Stay as busy as you can right now, see your therapist and keep talking~~sara
