I have been experiencing those same stomach/diarrhea issues. I drink around 750mL of jäger daily. Thank you for putting the topic out there
Absolutely. Happened to me.
I used to drink 1/2 a liter of vodka a day (the cheap $10 stuff) and about 3x a day I had to URGENTLY use the restroom. Very dark watery stool. Was probably my intestinal lining coming out due to always being surrounded in vodka. I barely ate since I just drank all the time and eating made me have to use the restroom even more. Very sad time in my life.
Stomach always sounded like a thunderstorm, even if I wasnt hungry.
Unfortunately drinking alcohol for a sustained period of time can affect all your organs, it's essentially poison and our bodies do everything they can to reject it and get rid of it, hence sickness and diarrhea! Be careful stopping entirely suddenly though as this can also have an adverse effect on your body.
The answer to your question is yes. The reason is because of the yeast. How do I know, I went through that myself. There was a time in my life were my husband and I would have some beers at night, even if I only had one or two, I would spend the next day or two in the bathroom with diarrhea. I finally went to an allergist and found out that I was allergic to yeast. When I took the yeast out of my diet (quit drinking), I stopped having the problem. I look at it as my waring sign that I could have turned into an alcoholic and I not had that problem, so I have never been sorry that I have to deal with it.
Again, I'm no doctor and there could be a lot of other variables at play. I've had all of the above when I was drinking. Normally, my stomach would be fine, but after particularly heavy nights I had severe stomach upset, pain, and diarrhea. Children can leave the room for this next comment, but I also had dark or bloody stools on some occasions.
Stop drinking and see if your situation improves. You won't get better instantly - it will probably take several days to get past this (it took me as many as 5 days on those occasions). Take some pepto, eat right, and stay off the booze completely.
Since this is the Alcoholism portion of the website, I'd be remiss if I didn't say you were drinking too much. This is a wake-up call and your body is trying to tell you something. It's nothing to be ashamed of, but you need to get a handle on it.
If you're stomach symptoms don't gradually improve, please go see a doctor!
I was drinking almost daily either 4 beers or 4 - 5 rum & diet cokes. Heavier on the weekend. Ive been drinking like that for quite sometime. I stopped drinking yesterday to see. What do you think?
Not being a doctor myself, I'm sure this information is incomplete, but yeah; it can cause all of the symptoms you describe. How much alcohol are we talking about anyway? How much do you drink on a daily basis and how long have you been doing it? Did your problems start after a particularly heavy night?
Does drining on a daily basis effect your stomach?
Any help on this would be appreciated...
