So proud!!

Today my husband is three months sober.  He didn't drink everyday but almost every weekend . He would be violent and black out . He still gets upset when we talk about the things that had happened . He can't believe it . He can't believe he could do something like that . He has turned around completely and I couldn't ask for better . Is there anything I should be doing to support him , to help him with his struggle ?

Hi, so happy to hear your husband has quit drinking. I quit almost 2 years ago, and can relate to your husband about not knowing what you did when drunk. That's why I quit, I was told my last time drinking what I did and it made me so shocked and scared I quit drinking. He should go to AA meetings to share with others, it helps, he could get a sponsor there and get a AA book and practice the 12 steps of AA. They changed my life around. You can go to any OPEN AA meetings with him for support. Closed meetings are for alcoholics only. Not a good idea to be around other people drinking, help him with that, tell people no drinking near him.and if your husband has cravings for drinking, remind him how bad it was. My husband does these things for me and it really helps.
Best Wishes
Judy

Hi & Congrats to your hubby.  From personal expierence, the best thing you can do for him is to encourage him to attend AA meetings.  So that he can around others with alcohol problems.  So he can vent, and feel better. I have been sober almost 2 years, and I don't go often, but when I do I always feel much prouder of myself, and better.

Best of Luck!!
