I'm trying to taper off alcohol HELP!!

2ndchanzPLZ: My story ... I'm 38 thru a nasty divorce started drinking HEAVILY for over a year vodka lots of it all day and night towards the end got a DUI / accident thank god no one was hurt .... That didn't scare me into stopping until the pain / vomiting etc did so I went to the ER and ended up being hospitalized 4 months lost my job , apt, etc but somehow lived was In a coma the first month pancreatitis, blood inf . Survived that but came out using Methadone which was was the drs say kept the pain away and ability to eat at all. Did not drink for about 9 months not one drop. Then had a glass of wine and was fine so I thought OH WOW I can have a drink or two and be fine. Slowly increased up to drinking every night ... No hard alcohol just wine . Now it's almost about the 1.5 L bottle of white wine everyday . Needless to say I don't feel good that it came bk to this . I have to do this on my own and I've researched that since my previous incident /condition they I am at higher risk of bad withdrawal so please help I've been doing little bit drinking per hour and I keep vommitting and I feel like I can't even drink water . Will the vommitting stop or should I just stop. I read the HAMS thing so that's where I got the one drink/hour idea. After I vomit I feel okay enough to sleep about an hour or 2 at a time . But I think the methadone is to thank for that .  I'm on my phone so sorry for typos and I shortened this . Thank u I've never done this before .

You can get through this with the help of a good doctor and support group. It sounds like your body is telling you to stop.

You said you have to do this on your own....Doing this on your own got you here in the first place.  Any type of addiction is a "we" thing, not an "i" thing.  Given your past medical issues you NEED to get a doctor involved.  Also the methadone is a nasty drug to come off of and you will need help with that.  How much do you take?  Please reach out for help before it is too late.

It is very dangerous to withdraw off of alcohol or benzos without medical help due to seizures, convulsions, death. If you are pregnant you need medical treatment ASAP. I am sorry you are going through this, I am recovering alcoholic, heroin addict been free of all mind altering substances coming up on two years. I work 12 step program and suggest AA if you are serious about changing your life and staying sober. Good luck honey

Pancreatitis does NOT come from a year of heavy drinking...it comes AFTER YEARS of VERY HEAVY drinking!A doctor who prescribes you methadone KNOWING..or perhaps he/she doesn't know?how much/how long u've been drinking for really needs their head examined!:(You need to be admitted to a detox facility and get some treatment for your problem.....or else you do run the risk of ending up dead from this!do you have any children?
