The dark side of addiction!

I have just found out that my brother-in-law who was already diagnosed with emphasema due to marijuana abuse has now also been diagnosed with end stage cirrhosis,he is only 42,He also has drug induced schizophrenia
He stopped drinking years ago,but started abusing pain meds and marijuana instead,it will catch up with us if we don't stop abusing everything.
They don't think he'll be here for Christmas.He went through detox to quit the pain meds and marijuana but it was obviously too late,he has an 18 year old step daughter (my goddaughter)who loves him dearly and a 9 year old daughter.
My sister doesn't drink,smoke or do any drugs and she just can't understand addiction.she is angry that his family didn't mean enough to him for him stop..

Thanks for sharing with us.  It is unfortunate that friends and family have to suffer due to this disease.  What you have shared is a great reminder of how devastating this disease can be not only to the addict but to the family as well.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  God Bless!!
