Congratulations Ladies. It's so good that you have found us here. Friends make it so much easier, clean and sober friends that is ~ I'll message you both to get you started. You can both get sober, please have faith. There is no mountain you cannot climb. AA works, and you'd both do well for yourself to make a plan to make some friends there that can help you to handle this without being so alone. God bless you both. Liz

Hi there I am also from UK and have been dry now for 12 days. I was exactly the same as you getting to a certain point of the night and craving wine. This quickly developed into drinking at any moment I possibly could. My partner could see the problem and we would argue and fight if I wanted to have a glass of wine at night so I started to drink through the day on my days off, I hid vodka in water bottles wine under the sink. I lost control, 13 days ago I was drunk by 12 in the afternoon and decided to take my children to the park, I don't recall the day or how we got home. I woke up the next day disgusted with myself. I have been abusing alcohol for almost 13 years and have had enough. I really don't want to scare you but the fact you crave and must have wine shows you too have a problem. My withdrawal symptoms for the first few days were horrific, I was anxious, jumpy, tired, I felt like my heart would jump out my chest and I honestly thought I was going insane. Please please get yourself to the doctors and be honest. It will be so much harder for you as you are on your own. I would be more than happy to help you and talk to you if you need it. Be strong!!

well admitting you have a problem and need help is a great first step towards recovery.

I am so happy for you that you have come to this point. you are still young and can live a life clean and sober.

here is the website and link for alcoholic anonymous. please look at the website and find yourself some meetings.

going to counseling and talking about your addiction with a therapist will be very helpful. they will help you identify why you feel the need to drink. many times people use drugs and alcohol to fill a void in their lives, cover up emotional pain, scars or wounds.

there is healing for your body, mind, and spirit. you can be the confident and happy person that you were before.

I am sorry, just saw the title of your post.
you have been drinking for 5 years?
if you don't drink do you get withdrawal symptoms? shaking, increased heart rate, anxiety, sweating, headache?
is this the first time you are going to see the doctor about this?
