Non-specific Allergies

My wife has recently started to have allergic reactions to ALL skincare and haircare products - even such mild things as Aqueous cream. Moisturisers, perfume creams, ointments etc are all making her break out in itchy blisters, and the flesh underneath becomes swollen and hard. Anti-histamine tablets help some, but take weeks to clear it up.
The most recent problem is on her face, and is causing considerable discomfort.
Just to complicate the issue, She also reacts badly to many of the colourings used in tablets and capsules.
Any ideas????

Hello and welcome to the community.

She needs to see an allergist and have a cosmetic skin patch test battery done.  A likely candidate is cocamides which are in a lot of cosmetics and hair products.

You may want to check out www.pisco.com  They have a line of allergist and dermatologist recommended free and clear skin and hair care products.  I was really impressed with their hair gel.  I am used to higher end hair care products we get as samples.  Their gel actually worked very well for me.  You maybe able to ask your pharmacist to order the products for you if you can tell them exactly what you want by looking at their site online.  Looking at the sample tube I have, it does have cocamides in it.  There is a good chance that they aren't the culpret though.

Hopefully some others will come on with some thoughts as.

God bless.

Many of us know the misery of allergies all too well -- the sneezing, runny nose and postnasal drip; watery, itchy eyes, ears, nose, and throat. Your doctor will listen to you but do remember they are not specialist in Allergies. You can talk to your doctor about skin Allergies. He may check your previous medical records to see what you where on before. However, he may tell you that you need to see a skin specialist or diagnosis.
