Sneeze & itchy nose

To: Dr. David
Hello doctor,

I sneeze in the morning, maybe 20 of them at a stretch and liquid mucus comes out for about 30 minutes and then it's over. I catch like cold from sweating and not enough sleeping, but they are short lived although very annoying. Any suggestions? I am an adult.

Hi, I appreciate your interest in finding a remedy to allergic reaction. Allergic reaction in animals are not extensively studied and little is known. Another problem is the allergen react in different ways and inter species difference exists. For ex. histamine causes bronchoconstriction (breathing difficulty) in humans whereas it has opposite effect in rabbits. Hope for some great break in allergy. Take care and regards.

Thank you Dr. Rajput.

Reagarding medical science, is there any food products (such as honey, herbs) that can develope antibody or fight against allergens? Why other animals like cows, goats, deers, etc do not develop alergies like humans? Is there anything that we can learn from other animals and then apply to the super animal, i mean humans?

Thanks again for your time

Hi, it typically suggests allergic rhinitis which is exaggerated or precipitated during cold season or timing. This condition is sometimes associated with asthma.

The triggering factors like dust, fog, pollens etc. can cause the precipitation of these symptoms. From your history it is clear that you may be allergic to pollen.

A careful nasal examination, Allergen-specific testing includes Skin testing, Serum tests for allergy, Allergen challenge and as well as Evaluation for concurrent conditions like Sinusitis and Asthma is necessary and it directs further steps for management.
You need to take measures to avoid exposure to such allergens. You can try sleeping with windows closed, which will avoid exposure to aero-allergen in the morning.

It should be differentiated from vasomotor rhinitis and Atrophic rhinitis for which consult ENT specialist. Take care and regards.
