Trouble breathing, choking sensation, hospitalized?

Hello, I am happy I found this forum to at least know that I am not alone. I have suffered off and on from anxiety and panic attacks since my teenage years but usually have been able to keep it at bay, I am now twenty five years old. Everything in life was running smooth I didn't seem to have to much going on but the usual normal day to day things. This past Monday [12/10/2012] I was just getting ready to go to sleep and boom I got hit with the worst panic attack ever. I had the trouble breathing, shakiness, sweats, choking sensation, and nervous rapid heart beat and started to cough because I was so nervous. I tried to calm myself down which was so difficult.

The next morning I was still feeling jitters through my body and was having bouts of heart palpitations (I do have a Mitral Valve Prolapse) and also the trouble breathing was worse than ever, almost felt like I had an elephant sitting on my chest. Throughout the day I started to yawn, and yawn feeling like I could not catch a breath - my chest and back was getting so tired from deep, deep breathing - I always feel like I am gasping for air. I called my physicians office that said they had no appointments for me to see my doctor until late January of course I could not wait that long but they didn't seem to care or worry.

So I ended up in the emergency room on Thursday night 12/13/2012 , spoke to an ER physician and they also called in a psychiatrist - I told her what I was feeling and what was going on when it happened and they both looked at each other and said Anxiety. I already knew what it was I just needed help getting this under control. She then went on and explained some breathing techniques and told me to take hot showers to allow steam in my lungs. They ended up prescribing 0.5mg of Kolonopin 2x a day one in the morning and one at night, and also 100mg of Wellbutrin 2x a day once in the morning and once at night, and also before bed they prescribed me 15mg of Remeron to be taken one hour before sleep. I have yet to try the medication because I was released last night at 11pm from the hospital being 12/14/2012 and was heavily sedated with all the medications being given to me through IV which I think was heavy doses of Valium it kept me real calm but my breathing was still acting up.

I realize that the Kolonopin is for anxiety / panic attacks, and that the Wellbutrin is to help depression and raise serotonin levels or maybe they both are, but what about the Remeron? Even after reading online about Remeron is it safe to take all three of these together?

Also has anyone else dealt with this troublesome breathing where you need to gasp for air, heavy chested, loss of breath, and constantly yawning - what can be done? Also this morning when I woke up I was still very jittery and having sweaty palms actually every morning this week I have been waking up like that, I feel like I have no control. Please any help would be great - I just want reassurance that I will be okay because right now I feel like I am dying on the inside.

( Big cry - I just had ) ..... Thank you and God Bless.

You are all not alone in this,l feel the same way even now that's why l came online to find out what could be the problem,l am over weight and l suspect it could be the cause because when l lost a little weight l breathed better but really it could also be due to anxiety as l just read, l carry alot of financial responsibility and l worry too much.Anyway whatever the case might be, God is in control.l haven't taken any medication at all but when its so bad l do some jogging and/or exercise that wld make my heart pump blood faster and l breath better ,it gives me relief.l pray that the Almighty God who sent Jesus by whose stripes we are healed will heal us all completely in Jesus name.

Also thinking about other stuff will help you!:) years ago when I first got it I was keepin busy with stuff that I like to do and was praying alot and it went away. And then 3 years after I was stressing and it came back! When you do the breathing dont stress just let body do its own routine and you can just think of something nice :) I think all of us who have anxiety have found it as a "hobby" and we just need to find another :) grow up from it or somethig

I feel just the same, just pray to God and know that he can halp you, two weeks ago I was in **** and had no other option so I talked to God , just talking and told him how I felt :) that week I was anxiety free, its been years since I was so relieved . Then I forgot about God againand it came back, so you must find your TRUST in GOD and then nothing can hurt you. As I see it, its nothing special happening to your body , you ARE breathing its just that you pay attention much more to how your body works now, which you didnt do before. If you just let your body do its own work , dont bug in, and dont fight it cause there is no acutal foght then you will be fine. We are all born programmed to breathe by our selves and not bugging into it, and it works fine for everyone else so just let it be!:) and think about other stuff. I must say and this will may come off wrong but when I have sex with my bf , I dont struggle. Thats how I know nothing is wrong with me. So think of thimes when you dont have it, what moments are those? But first of everytjing trut in God it will put away all your fears and pain!:) Cause HE CAN DO MIRACLES, and ask Jesus for help, and healing of body and mind and soul and heart.. God bless!

Thank you. I was just wondering how many milligrams of the CoQ10 does your son use, along with the magnesium?

I just couldn't help but say hi, and tell you how sorry i am that you're experiencing all of this. I don't have an answer as to the drugs, and drug interactions that you're having, but hopefully someone else will. Honestly i would ask on the Expert forum and get a doctor's advice on that. You can also ask a Pharmacist and i'm sure they could help.

My son has had terrible problems with anxiety, and he also has SVT (Supraventricular tachycardia is any rapid heart rhythm). He was on many medications but had so many side effects. He researched and found CoQ10 and magnesium the answers to his prayers, and has his anxiety and his SVT under control now, with no side effects. It was a God Send, maybe you could try. My heart goes out to you, and i hope you find relief. God Speed and hugs to you.
