Can't find the answer for years.....please help!

I have been dealing with anxiety and occasional depression for years. To make a long story short. On the weekend i go out with my friends often have few beers or drinks, i feel good, confident, relaxed, happy, no anxiety, optimistic etc. Even i have a small hangover after the alcohol consumption, i am doing very good mentally. I feel like my brain was completely cured and is working healthy. I usually have something to drink on Friday and Saturday evening, then i feel great on Sunday and Monday. As the week starts i go to work, deal with stressful job and the life routine, i don see my friend often. As the week progress I am becoming more tired, more anxious, more thoughts are in my head, I feel unexplained discomfort, tension, nervousness, agitation, I am concentrated on my symptoms, decrease of sex drive, harder to concentrate, slowed down, can't sleep good, ringing in my ears, mod is lower and I am not that social I feel general feeling of being "poisoned like" from the inside, have headaches, i am not that exited about things and life. Why is it like that? Why only few beers resolves the issues for couple of days? Maybe it relaxes me and I dont think about other things and I am present.  I see my therapist, psychiatrist, take 0.5 mg of klonopin a day and 2.5 lexapro a day. Please help me, my doctors says it is weird that alcohol creates this kind of result because it should be opposite. I don't know what to do. Yesterday was monday and i haven,t been drinking since sat and j felt just great and today is tuesday and i am going slowly down.

Sounds to me like you don't like your job or your life much.  Alcohol helps you forget.  By Tuesday you remember.

Well Alcohol is not the Answer, if you are looking for long time relief, Alcohol will come back to bite you in the long run,it's the same as someone taking a xanax, TEMP. relief.

I find it hard to believe your Dr. would react to you like that, you should copy your post and show it to him, I would love to hear his response. I really believe he will clarify is response. From what you discribe your lucky this is not Panic and only mild Anxiety, not GAD, from what you write this builds up during the week, I would suggest you stop and take a time out during the week and relax, talk to friends and you will find your life more balanced, what you discribe in your post , everyone has that anxiety, it's called I work hard all week. (please note I am only going by what you have posted here). good luck.

Alcohol does release dopamine into the brain. Alcohol is a depressant, but it does have an effect on dopamine level in the brain.

It may not hurt to adding Welbutrin to your current meds. Welbutrin inhibits the Reuptake of dopamine which allows more of it to stay in the brain where it needed to regulate mood.

If you are dopamine defficient then Welbutrine can help. Just an Idea.

Hey Thank You Jake. I don't know. I moved changed places 4 times since I have started feeling those symptoms. I has been almost 10 years. I am 30 now so figure it out. Everything in my house seems to be ok; however, when I have flu or cold and take some meds, not the antibiotics, I feel fine. How can I get some allergy testing  done, from the blood? Where should I go to get them done?

I dont know why your Docs are so "amazed" by the positive reactions you get from alcohol.

Its a "natural" sedative in simple terms.

Yea, Im suspecting some type of either allergic reaction...
Or something toxic in your home.
what kind of appliances do you have?
Have you check for molds?
whats near your home?

Im kind of the same way......when I go fishing.....no breathing problems, no heart pain, etc...
But, Im almost 100% positive I have Cronic Lyme disease, be my "sudden" onset of mental/physical symptoms.
When I take antibiotics...I feel 100% normal and healthy.
About a week later....It comes again, almost like waves of different symptoms.
"because I havent been treated long enough with antibiotics"
Im still looking for a LLMD in my area, because all the Nurse practitioners, and state doctors know nothing.
Its pretty bad when I have no schooling in that field, and know more then them.

Anyways, really think about whats around your home, and get back with me.

Yes I do leave the house during those feel good times, no animals in my house and when I feel better I don't actually eat a lot. What do you suspect, allergies??? that was my second thought.....but the alcohol??? I don't know. let me know what you think.
