anxiety again

I use to have concerns over my heart and always was thinking I was having a heart attack. However now I have a bad headache and I am worried about having a stroke...is it normal with people with anxiety to always think something is wrong??:(

Yes anxiety can be obsessional..when I get anxiety I worry about sexually transmitted diseases, going blind ,and being paralysed..I understand how you feel and yeah it does switch its crazy how one thought can be so true to you and the next day not bother you at all because you have switched to being terrified of something else .when im worried about a illness or bodily function i try to tell myself is it really worth torturing myself over this ?It would probably be less torturious actually having the illness then the amount of suffering worrying causes over it .another way is to write it all down ..write down all your worries ..helps to put them into perspective a bit more .

In my opinion (and experience), anxiety causes us to worry about a myriad of potential health problems.  I believe it is quite common to focus in on a particular area, then be okay with it, and then move on to our next worry, so what you are describing prettty much 'fit the bill' when I was going through this.  That is one of the reasons that anxiety is so frustrating in my opinion...if it is not one thing, it is another, then another....and so on.

I believe that the most important thing you can do is confront the root cause of your anxiety so you can learn about it and deal with it.  I know that the saying, 'knowledge is power,' is used too often, but in this case I believe whole heartedly for this to be true.  As with any subject or challenge we face, the more we learn about it the less scary it becomes and it also enables us with the tools to deal with it.  In my experience, anxiety is no different.

Do you have access to counseling?  For me, one on one or even group counseling helped tremedously...keep your head up.  You will get through this.
