Talk to your doctor about how to do it. That's really the best way to go about it. That being said, my DH weaned himself off Zoloft by himself. He just cut the pills in half, in quarters and then quit. Medications that affect your mood like that are hard to take because of the side effects and the fact that there is a risk of dependency. In many cases I think it is better to learn how to cope day to day. Try taking fish oil instead.
I hated xanax!
I took myself off of it after being on it for a year or two. I just quit cold turkey.
Was told later that it had been a bad idea to do that because something bad could have happened.
I felt sooooo good after I came off of them. No more ticks, twitches, looking like I was drunk, sounding like I was drunk.
I felt better getting off of them than I did being on them...but that was me.
Every person is different, so it's hard for anyone to say what you might go through. Sorry.
Anyway, as far as I remember it wasn't too bad coming off of them. I think I had some headaches.
Just don't go cold turkey...because they claim that it can be dangerous...it wasn't for me, but it could be for you.
Taper off slowly. Cut your dosage down slowly. Break the pills in half.
Just make sure you let a doctor know what you are doing.
