How much xanax should I take for extreme social anxiety??

Ok so tomorrow is my first day of school and I'm gonna take one 0.5mg pill now. But tomorrow morning I want to take 1 and a half or 2 pills but I don't know how much.
I think I have a slight tolerance. If I drink coffee and then I take the pill/pills will there be any difference on the effect (after I wake up, so I won't have anything else in my stomach)?? I usually take just one pill of 0.5mg but lately it hasn't done a lot of effect.

Your Dr should tell you how much and when to take it. You might be building up a tolerance to it if it's not helping much any more. See your Dr to talk about getting on something else that's longer acting. It's not a good idea to play around with the doses on your own.
