You should be working with your doctor in tapering off Lexapro. If it helps you deal with anxiety, why stop taking it?
First, look up a book called The Anti-Depression Solution. It discusses how to taper off a med and when it's time to stop taking a med. But the basic answer is, you taper off as slowly as you need to. You don't follow some pre-set schedule, you follow one that works for you. If it takes a while, it takes a while. Usually, benzos are much harder to quit than antidepressants, but some antidepressants are just as bad, such as Paxil and Effexor. Lexapro isn't the worst. Just take it slowly, and if things get really bad, go back on the last dose at which you felt fine and taper off more slowly.
