If you've been diagnosed with sleep apnea you need to be using a breathing machine at night. Sleep Apnea is dangerous and taking medication to "perk up" is not helping the sleep apnea which is the problem. But I doubt you have this at your age. Your diet plays a big role in mid-afternoon tiredness, so watch the carbs and sugar, and make sure you stay well hydrated.
Meditation can give a wonderful burst of energy, better than sleeping. But you might want to check you diet to see if you're eating things that metabolize too quickly and then burn out, such as simple carbs or sugar, and check any medication you're on -- some bring on fatigue. Spirulina or bee pollen can be very helpful as well, as they are so packed with nutrients and antioxidants. Exercise also helps with energy. Lots of things short of medication that can help here.
I may have missed an earlier post from you, but if not, I'm wondering if you've actually been diagnosed with anxiety/depression or sleep apnea?
If not, and this mid-afternoon sleepiness has come on suddenly, I'd first suggest seeing your doctor for a check up before taking medications. At your age, your hormones are running amok and it's common to run out of steam if your life is really active.....school, homework, sports, perhaps an after school job, friends. Just going through puberty is exhausting!
A quick blood test at your doctors will alleviate any concern that your hormones are off for any medical reason. If you're skipping meals or not getting enough sleep, this could lead to a mid-day slump.
You could try eating a nutrious snack high in protein........fruit, nuts, low fat cheese, yogurt or drink one of the many healthy shakes available. Avoid the Red Bulls and surgary snacks........they'll pick you up for a short time, but you'll crash even harder. Exercise is also a great pick me up. A brisk walk or some yoga can banish the need to nod.
See your doctor and follow his/her advice.
Peace

Dear Britney,
Talk to your doctor about Nuvigil which is for people with Sleep Apnea that keeps them awake and focused during the day. When you have anxiety, many times at night you do not get enough sleep because when you dream, you have anxiety dreaming.
My Phyche said that because of the deep depression periods and boughts of anxiety caused the part of my brain that controls the Attention Deficiet Disorder to control is gone. Using some ADD drug really helps even on low doses.
