Prozac & Xanax

My doctor put me on 20mg of prozac to take daily. I also have 0.5 mg of xanax that I take if I have an attack, I was wondering will xanax increase the possibility of developing seretionion syndrome?! Please help because I haven't started prozac yet because I'm scared of getting seretonion syndrome!

You are right about the Xanax. I take only half of the .05 pill and it works like a charm.

Seratonin syndrome is very rare to happen you would have to have more than a couple medications in your system and actually have normal lvls of it but considering you have depression/anxiety you are lacking some so I don't think that would be a problem but you could ask your doc. I'm on zoloft but still having anxiety I wish my doc would prescribe me Xanax cause it's the only thing that seems to help

No, you don't have to worry about that.  These kinds of meds are Rx'ed concurrently all the time.
