3 months and still no answers

For the past three months I have been experiencing the following symptoms:
Heart palpitation in my lower throat (dizziness and lightheartedness involved)
Strange pressure at bottom of throat
Front mid chest is cracking (this began only at night, but now it occurs throughout the day)
Pain and pressure in and amongst rib cage. Breast bone very sensitive to touch.
Excessive burping
Occasional nausea

I had a chest xray and an EKG one and a half months ago and nothing turned up abnormal. Symptoms seem to be worsening as time goes by and anxiety is increasing as I am becoming extremely frustrated and frightened of what could be happening. The palpitations are increasing in frequency which are also very scary to me. I would appreciate any advice or recommendations you may have.

Thanks,
Claudia

i am 100% sure it gets worse the more u think about it happening. its like a weird trigger. yes evil!

the problem is how do u control ur thoughts?

mayb the keys is good eating, good sleep, and zero stress untill it fades

Good luck with it.

I would still follow up with a doctor.  Yes, anxiety can cause palpitations but there are other causes.  I have had anxiety problems since I was a teenager and would get palpitations then racing heart out of the blue. After not accepting that this was anxiety (this actually was the beginning of my anxiety), finally got the doctor to do more tests.  Wore a heart monitor and they found out that I had AV nodal reentrant tachycardia - a heart arrythmia and also a prolapsed valve.  Nothing you can't live with but beta blocker medications control the symptoms.  The excessive burping you mentioned is what caught my eye - every time my heart would take off I would have instant belching.  I am not saying you might have this , I am just saying that a little further investigation wouldn't hurt to rule out anything else.  An event monitor is good for monitoring what is going on with your heart.  They are generally worn for up to 30 days and you press a record button when you have symptoms.  After several recordings you send the info via phone and it is read like an EKG.  If they mention 24 hour monitor (holter monitor) they are useless unless you have your symptoms every single day it will not catch it.  That said, I have learned that once a doctor sees that you have a history of anxiety, they tend to write everything off as being caused by anxiety.  Hope you follow up with your doctor, and as other things are ruled out it becomes easier to accept that maybe it is that darn anxiety so you can move on.  Good luck and peace to you.

Have you had anxiety issues in the past?  My original experience was also due to concerns about my heart.  For months I did not believe the doctors and I had multiple tests confirming I was okay.  I felt every little twinge, pain, palpatation, etc.  I became so concerned that I was oversensitized to any feeling that I related to my heart health.  I also tended to misinterpret many normal every day aches and pains as something catastrophic.

Not until I finally decided to entertain the thought that it might be anxiety, did I even start to make progress.  The good thing, is as you learn about it, you learn to confront it and deal with it...there is a reason for the saying, 'knowledge is power....'

I know it is confusing, scary, and very frustrating but you will get through this...keep us posted!

Hello! Sorry to hear you are going through this. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. I promise you that. And you'll get there. =)

Now... here's what you NEED TO KNOW! ABSORB THIS AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!

Your got a CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH. NO ABNORMAL stuff going on. All good! Dr's are smart, they know what to look for when they hear your symptoms. Your symptoms clearly indicate anxiety. Yes, anxiety can last for months... even non stop. But it CAN all go away.

You stated... "Symptoms seem to be worsening as time goes by and anxiety is increasing as I am becoming extremely frustrated and frightened of what could be happening. The palpitations are increasing in frequency which are also very scary to me."

Look at this very carefully. You say "As time goes by your anxiety increases, you are frightened of what could be happening."

This is a perfect example of the evil cycle of anxiety and its symptoms. When you fear and obsess of the symptoms, they tend to get worse and worse.

What I would suggest is making a Dr's appt. and telling him your issues, fears, heart palpitations (heart palpitations are also anxiety related.)

He may suggest an anti-depressant that can help! Hang in there. Youre gonna be alright. THERE IS NOTHING PHYSICALLY WRONG WITH YOU. THEY ARE JUST FEELINGS.

My throat did that for a while. Felt like I could feel my blood also pulsing through my neck as if they blood was having to work extra hard to pump up or down my neck. Also my lower throat near my wind pipe felt tight... scared me. But it was all anxiety. It went away. =)

Hang in there k? =)
