Hi there, I suffer form severe anxiety and OCD. I went through some terrible times with health anxiety. At one point I was at my doctors all the time with some new problem after i had diagnosed myself on the internet (not advisable ;)
I experienced the lump in the throat for months - it was acid reflux caused by anxiety - a heartburn rememdy got rid of it within a week. I also had some glands up behind my ears and in my neck. My doctor said that sometimes glands just do that. I was checked for glandular fever etc. This was six years ago.
I agree that yes, do get a second opinion but it really could be psychosamatic - I imagined all sorts of terrible illnesses during this time and nothing came of them.
Always get a lump checked by the doctor but perhaps also ask him what he can do for your anxiety xxxxxx

Anxiety will not cause swollen lymph nodes.  Find a doctor of internal medicine and get checked out and kick this doctor to the curb!
