I have taken seroquel since I was 17 and I am now 24. Usually a doctor will start you off on a lower dose from 25 mg to 100 mg. It makes you really sleepy so don't drive. But it does help with anxiety and insomnia and bad dreams. I am now at 600 mg. Over long periods of time u will get immune to lower doses. I take seroquel xr which is extended release where u take it at night and the benefits last all day. Not just at night. U won't be sleepy all day, just at night when u first take it. I have taken it for long term because it helps a lot. But you will need to have blood work Avery three to six months while taking it because it can cause sugar problems. I have yet to have that problem though. High doses can cause weight gain too. If you have any more questions I will be happy to help.
I'm a little surprised your Dr recommended this med if you have anxiety but not depression. It's a pretty potent med and I would think your Dr would try you off on something milder first. Or have you already tried other meds that did'nt help?
remar is right about trying other meds first. Maybe klonopin or something a lot milder from seroquel. I only got placed on it because I had more than just anxiety and I tried several other meds first.
