What's in a Name?

Because I am a frivolous person with a shallow mind and the attention span of a Mexican Jumping Bean, I thought I would create a questionable diversion which may actually have some interesting results. I refer to our nicnames. Especially for those of you who have selected names with some cryptic or symbolic significane such as "greenlydia" or "TipToe Tulip" or "moonflower," or "nozmeg." Nozmeg?  Then there's "firehazardguy." Fireman? Insurance inspector? Something scary, maybe? And what about BARFER? The mind reels....

My nicname is singularly uninspired: JSGeare. Yawn. Its my name -that's all.

But for the others, how did you select it? What does it mean? Do you use it other places? (not really anyone's business and you don't have to say where). Was it truly a creative effort, or did you just sort of pull it out of the space around you, like "Mrs. Doubtfire?"

I find that I sometimes speculate on what those names mean, and wonder if my guess is anywhere near accurate. And I know that others also have wondered. So -just a note or two: how did you come up with your name? Thanks!

You want some cheese with that whine? Please -its beneath you. Your name is just fine and attains a position of highest honor because it does not have a 3 digit number after it which would be the case if there were 99 or more other sq's here. You are the only one -and that's just fine. Now, run along and go find me a REAL problem.

I'll meet you later for a night of howlin' at the moon.  Then we can have an in-depth conversation about how to contextualize jb's - I prefer rum to vodka.   Archie actually said GAK! and ARG! and even GRRRR!!!! to almost everybody except Big Moose who would not have been too happy with ol' Arch.

As you can tell, I read extensively, especially that post-industrial stuff - comic books lol

And if the NEXT thing you tell me is that you live near Charlottesville VA, that probably means a personal visit because that's where I live. All about Dave Matthews here!

And 7 -also interesting. Try this: set up a multiplication table for 7: 1 X 7, 2 X 7, 3 X 7...out to 20 X 7 (or any larger number times 7).

Then, add together the digits that make up the answer you get, until you have a single digit. Example: 2 times 7 is 14. Add the 1 and 4 and get 5. Or 20 times 7 = 140. Add the 1, the 4 and the zero to get 5. Do it for all multiplications, down the column. Observe the realtionship between the final answers. What do you see?

And Carter? Bad house fire the other night. Total loss.

Now then, Nana902: I can't tell you how much I appreciate the nice things you said about GS Geare -and I can only hope you meant JSGeare. If I meet up with GS, he and I will have a little chat.

As to a swimming hole of Wodka for the MJB's....they become MRB's.... rolling beans.
