Withdrawal? Please help. I have fevers,insomnia,blurred vision,speech problems..etc.

I have been having very strange symptoms for many months, and I think it could be withdrawal from antidepressants, and anti-anxiety meds. That seems to be the only logical answer right now. I was on Effexor for 2+ years, and Clonazepam (a high dose) for 4+ years. Also, Trazodone for sleep (high dose) 2+ years, and Ativan 4+ years, Seroquel 3 months, Olanzapine 2 years, Ziprasizone 2 years...Along almost every other pharmaceutical my doctor wanted to hand out like candy.

My doctor now 'found out' that I was misdiagnosed. I did not ever need most of the drugs I have been on. I tapered off all of them over a period of a few months. I am not taking any of them now. I am having fevers in the morning when I wake up, insomnia, shakiness inside my body and out, blurred vision in one eye, left side weakness/numbness of the body, problems walking (left leg has not much feeling), coordination problems, numb mouth and tongue, speech problems, stomach pain/bloating, constant diareha, daily migraines, flashing lights when I close my eyes, see clouds and smoke in the right eye. (And I'm sure there are more symptoms I cannot remember at the moment.) I have had tests done on my heart, brain (mri results are in, and is fine), allergy testing, stool, just about everything.

I'm not sure if I posted this in the right place. If ANYONE has been on some of these drugs and experienced some of the same symptoms, please reply or pm me asap. I am getting frusterated and losing hope. I want to be healthy again so I can get on with life.

WOW, just one SSRI or Benzo could cause most or all of what you are feeling. I think you know this is from the medications, and a good point of reference is always to look at when it started. Did you have these symptoms while on the drugs? If the answer is no, then you are going through withdrawal.

I hope they weened you off one drug at a time, because that is allot to put your system through, especially at high doses. Take this as a learning experience and question each and every medication you put in your system.

Good luck I know what you are going through must be a living hell. But know that it will get better.

Did you get over the symptoms or do you still have them? How long did it take to feel better?

I have to agree with RCA with his comments.  This is a horrible batch of medications, which was negligent of your doctor.   Plus, the neurological problems concern me and warrant further testing.  An attorney will take your case on a contingency basis with no money up front, he gets paid if you win the case, and it will be a third of what you get.  Suing a doctor is difficult, they will tell you that you were misdiagnosed, but they will not testify to this, they all cover for each other.  Normally a doctor from out of state needs to be brought in to testify on your behalf.  Often the attorneys get paid off by the hospital or doctor(s).  Keep good records, get everyhting in writing, all tests results and look for an attorney who handles medical malpractice suits, he will guide you from there.  Good luck to you, and take care.

What was the dignosis of the doctors?  depression/anxiety...biploar?? A for drugs personally i wouldn't go back down that road and add to the problem, although you could try a natural alternative like 5-htp or Valerian.  These will proberly help the symptoms you are suffering and are not chemical so will not leave you back where you started being dependant on these drugs.

Maybe chat to Paxiled, who is on my friends list, he is an expert in alternative medicine and will be able to lead you in the right direction of how to settle these symptoms in a natural way.

Good-luck and give him a bell...... tata for now.

Thank you for your comment. I have been trying to stay off those meds now, as I've been through hell with them. I recently had an eeg, mri, as well as other tests. All normal. So, yes, I'm sure it's those meds. I was misdiagnosed by a hospital, but there are two doctors who confirmed the diagnosis, then one of them told me they had it wrong all those years, but they were just doing what they were taught in medical school.

I would like to take action against them, as now 2 other people I know have been told they could have been misdiagnosed. I don't know how to go about getting a lawyer, etc. I have close to no money.

Mental healthcare has become appalling, and I'm shocked.
