Id like to think its cureable! I have managed to stay away from meds so far, Im suffering a year now. Mainly horrible thoughts and all that! I am in counsling and have come a long way! Not there just yet though! For me I think its about being positive, which I am not!! big issue for me.. Low self esteem unfortuantly!!!
Dont know how to combat that though :-(
I would have to agree. I am a proponent of medications as long as it is combined with talk therapy. Just like with any subject we learn about, to include anxiety, as we learn, we gain knowledge and understanding of what anxiety means to us and provides us steps to confront and deal with it. Sure, anxiety can come back, but if you have the knowledge about why you think the way you do, you can deal with it much more easier than if you never chose to confront it in my opinion...keep us posted!
It's curable, but I've never heard of it being cured with medication alone. Meds just treat symptoms. There are many types of therapy that do far more in the long run. Learning to change thoughts and behaviors in therapy often helps people come off of meds. I was on xanax for 6 years and with therapy came off it. I wouldn't call myself cured, but anxiety is further and farther between than it was before. Just my opinion.
