I just had the same problem, about three days ago. I had a panic attack a day after smoking two bowls of kronik. I've had panic attacks as a result of weed before but never like this one. Before going to sleep I thought I could comfort myself by tearing decorations down from my wall and otherwise rearranging things in my room, but eventually, I had to get it out. I went and talked to my mom and I went to the hospital where my blood pressure dipped and elevated. Later this week I'm gonna talk to a psychiatrist to see if My panic attacks are otherwise just a mental issue or if it's solely the weed. Either way, I'm not smoking weed anymore.
But I've been keeping an even keel and have been reading a lot about how marijuana can very well trigger panic attacks, paranoia and insomnia. You really do just have to ride it out. Talk to people, reason with yourself and what is possibly getting you so freaked out and eventually you'll feel better again.
Also, as for the beer thing, Hops, the flavoring ingredient in beer, are in the Cannabis family. So maybe switch to a different alcohol. Or none at all.

do you have a history of anxiety? The effect you speak of is quite common, and a reasonably well recognized side-effect, perhaps of having too much in one sitting? in small doses weed is known to help ease anxiety, but at an "unknown threshold", especially in epople predisposed to anxiety attacks, it can induce one or several, of varying intensities. also, for people will despression and/or a recognized anxiety disorders, be VERY careful: it can cause long-term anxiety and mental problems from just one "bad trip". i't may also very well ruin the experience of getting high for you forever. my advice is to stay away from marijuana, it can take you to the depths of mental hell and it doesn't always offer a return ticket.
just relax. honestly u probally got a bad bag im from nyc and use to smoke alot sometimes people will spray **** in windex and stuff and it will mess u up. that or u smoked to much..
