Thank you for you comments its nice to know there are people out there who understand
The therapy will help. She needs to see someone that specializes in teaching cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). She is not going to go mad. I know it feels like that, it did for me as well, but today I am living a very normal life with OCD. I take medication and I also practice CBT. As remar said, you can't help her to stop thinking this way, that is what the therapist does. What you can do is hold her hand when she is feeling particularly bad, listen to her, reassure her. I know it sounds exhaustive but once the proper tools are in place, she WILL get better. This is going to be just a little bump in the road.
Try to the the book The OCD Workbook: YOur Guide to Breaking Free of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Take care.
Yes she stated taking it on wednesday I'm just so worried she thinks she will go mad do you have any ideas on how to stop her thinking this way
Keep reassuring her and be as understanding as possible. And it does sound like you already are. Has she started on the medication yet?
The doctor as given her citalapram 10mg and she as got to see a therapist in two weeks I just feel so useless how do I get her to stop thinking irrationaly
This is her OCD and this irrational thought is causing her anxiety. She needs to get a handle on the irrational thinking, the doubt. What is she currently doing to help her with her OCD and anxiety? Has she learned CBT?
