Your dr should have never cut you off like that....you have been on it way to long to cut cold turkey and xanax is not as long acting as valium.....my dr tried this about 6 months ago and cut me off klonipin....he said i wouldnt have any withdrawals since he was replacing it with another benzo drug....BUT boy was he wrong....I had to call in my family i was in such bad shape and even when I called him on the phone to tell him cause it was the weekend he just said it was all in my head and thatt I was just scared of the xanax....It really made me so mad so he said well get back on the klonipin then and after about my 3 dose that day I felt back to normal...

I dont really think drs know how bad the withdrawals are on these drugs....I think if they were made to go thru it themselves they may think differently....I would try to find another dr that would put me back on the valium....its bad enough having anxiety alone and then when they take your meds from you it just makes our anxiety worse....hope you can find another dr to give it back to you since you been on it for so long....my prayer and heart goes out to you....keep us informed ok and hope you do ok....

I think wise would be to tapper off the valium slowly.why did he stop it completely just like that? The xanax might help yes.Im afraid I have no other tips, except if anxiety remains an issue for you there are some meds ssris that can help with anxiety but not addictive like benzo's, Lily
