With children it's always a good idea to head for an M.D.

That being said, heavy coughing often breaks small blood vessels.

I hope the little one is feeling better.

Hello again,  I was just wodering how your son is doing.  Have you been able to take him to a dr or are you waiting for Monday?  Please keep me posted.  I know how disturbing this is.

Call his dr or take him to an urgent care or possible a visit to an emergency room.   My GP doesn't get to concerned, and my allergist gets mildly concerned.   It really would depend on how much he is spitting up and what collor it is.  If the mucous is a brown collor or just streaked that isn't too big of a deal, but if his cough continues the bleeding could get worse.  Also, the infection causing the cough needs to be treated.

I know this is very scary.  I was coughing up blood two weeks ago.  Get him propper treatment and all will be well.  Do continue his nebs every 3 - 4 hours or whatever his action plan or prescription says.

I hope this helps.
