I presume I don't have such volatile mood swings as you do.  But I do have days or times (especially at night) when I am very negative.  It is a horrible empty feeling with dark storm clouds in my mind.  I feel that everything is going to go wrong, that everthing is hopeless.  These moods always pass, so I know that I just have to wait for them to go.  Usually something happens to set them off.  It might be an argument about something, but it always leads to a downward spiral of negative thoughts.  Not nice!

I find it hard to live with being misunderstood.  Also I don't understand the concept of "that was then this is now"  I tend to take people very literally when they say things like always being there for me.  If they say I matter to them as a friend, then I believe them. But when the very same person who says I matter to them as a friend suddenly starts treating me like I'm evil and intend to do nothinb but harm, then I'm left confused.

Another problem I have is random mood swings. I can "get over something" but when my mood is down, then I'm brought right back to the same feelings I had with something upsetting.

It would be much easier if people were understanding about these things, but when they start to critize me for being a whiner and complainer, then it only makes it worse.

As you can tell I'm right in the midst of an emotional meltdown right now.  I don't know what triggered it other than having sort of a dull migrain like headache, then I started feeling down, and then I started to feel depressed, then lonely, then started thinking about friends I had in the past and some of them that I really enjoyed talking with and some of those who suddenly quit being my friends.

nancybisno, Do you deal with mood swings like this from time to time?

I think the hardest thing is that what is 'obvious to you' is not obvious to most of us NT's and what is obvious to most of us NT's isn't obvious to most people with Aspergers or autism.  It is as though we are moving in a different perceptual reality although we are dealing with the same incoming 'stuff'.  Priorities and motivations are so different and both sides have to work at communicating with eachother.
