Positive ANA and HLA B-27 info

I had a positive ANA for two years>=1:1280 (both times) and this year HLA b-27 was positive (probably not checked before). My only symptoms besides intermittent fatigue and worsening reynauds in my hands with joint pain. I will see a rheumotologist end of May but I am nervous since anklyosing spondylitis was mentioned as a diagnosis. Do you have to have back pain for this?

I have Systemic Lupus and my ANA test was always at l: 1280 for years and years- that was how my Rheumatologist diagnosed my illness.

Hi there.  I didn't want your post to go unanswered.  I was hoping Dr. Mathur would answer this.  HLA b-27 is often found in people with anklyosing spondylitis, but not everyone who has that has AS.  Sometimes people have that, but no symptoms.  Although, I'm sure your rheumatologist will give you a thorough looking over and order more test.  Be sure and keep a journal on symptoms.  Even if you think they aren't important.  Also keep track of your activity.  Like I was  in the sun this day, but had a rash this day. (stuff like that)
