Please, I need advise; it's been 8 years and I am getting worse.

I have been expeirencing some issues for the last 8 years that I figured were related to my hypothyroidism. Altough the last year I have had some new symptoms which include: memory loss, cloudy/blurred vision (on and off) Restless leggs, having trouble focusing on my computer screen due to my eyes. knubness in my hands, and my ankles/feet stiff until I start walking a bit. Bladder issues, wieght gain and lots of swelling in my hands and feet. I also experience pain in my back and muscle spasims that are up and down my spine. Any ideas as to if I should ask my doctor to check me for MS?

Thanks again for the suggestions. I will look for the book, it sounds great. Also my doctor is running all of the test you mentioned. I had the blood work done on Monday. I was told it could take a week to get all of the results back. I will let you know. Thank you for taking the time to talk with me.

Since you just had labwork drawn yesterday, perhaps you could call and get some of the labs I mentioned added if they were not drawn.  Do you think you could be peri-menopausal? I practice homeopathic and alternative medicine and I want to let you know of a book I have been reading.  It is incredible and explains a lot! The Title is "The Inflammation Syndrome" by Jack Challem.  He also wrote Syndrome X.  He speaks of Chronic inflammation and health, even specific foods that can make you feel better.  Basically Chronic inflammation in our bodies is related to allergies.  It may be on Amazon.  I purchased it at Vitamin Cottage which is a local health food store here in Colorado. You could also purchase it online at www.vitamincottage.com.  They have incredible monthly newsletters relating to health.  Also mercola.com is another free website.  I am anxious to find out the results of your labwork.  You could email them to me privately if you don't want to post on this forum.  Ask if they can also check your hormone levels.....Wishing you the very best!
I read something very profound in The Inflammation Syndrome book I was reading this morning and I love it.  "Ultimately, you alone are responsible for your own health.  You cannot ignore your personal responsibility and simply turn your body over to a doctor the way you might ask a mechanic to fix your car." We all need to listen to our bodies and the signals they give out when something is wrong.  Figuring out what that is....well that is quite a different matter!

I forgot to add that for the last 2 months I am having issues with heat. I get so hot I feel like my body is cooking inside. I am currently spending most of my time in my room with a window open and two fans going. There are still times I still get to hot, even with all the fans going and the window open.

Thank you for your post. I have been to see my doctor and it has been a year since my last physical. I do have mitro valvve prolapse. I have dealing with these issues for 8 years and can not get anywhere. I have just finally got a full blood work up done today. I am just waiting for results. I am coincerned about MS. What do you think?

Have you had a full work up/exam and blood work? I recommend getting a full Thyroid Panel, Lipid Panel, CBC and Chemistry 18.  Sounds like you may have several issues going on.  Bloodwork and an exam with your Dr. is a very good place to start.  Further testing can be ordered from there.  I have my Dr. also check a Homocysteine Level and a CRP for cardiac health.
I also recommend starting a food diary to see if anything specific aggravates your problems. Wow! Eight years is a long time to tolerate not feeling well.  I try to get a complete physical at least yearly. It is much better preventative medicine to catch things early.  Please go and see your Dr. for a check up.
