looking for answers???

Hey I writing to find if anyone has a similar experience, this is my 3rd pregnancy the 1st 2 having ended in miscarriges at 7 and 12 weeks. I am terrified of loosing this baby and my doctor tried to put my mind at rest by sending me for a barrage of test , unfortuately I have come back with a postive for ANA titre antibodies (1:160) with a speckled pattern, does anyone one out there have any advice, could this be the cause of my previous miscarriges, does this mean this pregnancy is at risk??? my HCG is doubling roughly every 36 hours which has slowed down a little since i first had it monitored. but doctor estimates me a 5-6 weeks. sorry to ask so many questions i'm just really scared and confused

thankyou so much for your reply, I have an appointment with a specilaist to look into it all in two weeks so hopefully everything will be all right till then, they are also getting me in for an early scan next week to check progress so i feel like things are happening this time.

It is comnforting to know that others have had a similar experience, i don't feel quite so isolated

once again thankyou for your advice

Well it's possible that the possitive ANA could indicate something else.  Did your dr. also test for antiphospholipid antibodies?  Sometimes the immune system can attack the mechanism in your body that clots the blood and makes your blood clot easily, thus causing a miscarriage.

I don't blame you, two miscarriages is two too many.  I had a miscarriage and then a very troublesome pregnancy.  They are very hard to deal with.  Another thing you dr. might want to consider is natural progesterone.  I'm not sure what is available now, but 14 years ago when I was pregnant, it was micronized progesterone and I had to find a compounding pharamacist who could mix it up.  (please note that this is NOT depoprovera - which is a synthetic progesterone)  You don't want synthetic!!!!!

There is a lady who frequents the lupus forum called luppylupus.  She is very familar w/ antiphospholipid antibodies.  I recommend that you ask her.

God bless and am praying for you.
