Drove to work by myself today and it felt good :)

Hi my forum friends,
As I know you all know...we lose so much of our independance because of these awful conditions.  I used to love doing things on my own and I just can't do much of that stuff anymore.  If my husband didn't work in the same office, I don't know how I'd be able to work.  He had to take today off because he needed to use up time before the end of the year and picked today because we knew there would be less traffic and I'd get out early for Thanksgiving.  So I drove myself in today and for a few minutes in the car alone, I felt like the old me...able to drive myself and just doing something on my own like I used to be able to do.  It was such a good feeling :)  I knew what a physical toll this all took on me and I knew it was hard emotionally/mentally but it hit me this morning in the car, just how hard it's been on my self-esteem and feeling of emotional well being.

I'm sorry any of us has to deal with mourning our independance in this way, but today taught me that even if it's just for a little while, it's possible to feel that way again.  I was writing to Beema about fearing going places because of passing out and not letting that stop us from doing things.  I would venture to say that we at least have to try to do things so we can experience that short little burst of feeling good from accomplishing something we don't normally do anymore...and today for me, it was driving in by myself :)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone :)

Reading this made me feel good and hopeful!  I have been shortening my trips into town or staying over night to divide tasks between two days.  I am happy for you! Marie

Evo and Laura,
It really does give me a little spark of hope...such an important experience in my life...holding on to hope that is.  I'll take those moments, however short they are, and hold them close and keep hoping they happen more often...and it makes me want to keep trying to do things that make them happen :)  A little scary, but definitely worth it!
