Is Biopsy and Laproscopy the same?

I think it might be silly question.. but i really need to know this....

My Gyno Suggested that i take a HSG(on cd8-10) and Biopsy(On cd22-24) to check the uterine lining in my next cycle.. I m wondering if she actually meant Laproscopy instead of biopsy as she also mentioned abt taking x-rays and checking for the shape of the uterus... but she used the word 'biopsy'.. Here in belgium the Gynos are not very good in english...so i m kind of confused now...

can some please help me out to understand this.......

Thanks for the replies....

My doc said that she would take a tissue to check the thickness... so i think it should be only biopsy she was talking abt..... I was actually scared, thinking that she might have actually meant laproscopy....

i feel better now.. thank you

I agree with what Helen said.  I believe a biopsy is the actual taking of tissue, where as a laproscopy is merely to look around inside.

A lap procedure is different then an HSG (I've had the HSG).  Both Steph9803 and Nunu1977 have had the lap done.

To the best of my knowledge a laproscopy is purely to look whereas a biopsy is to take a piece of tissue, a biopsy is often taken during a laproscopy for further investigation.
