Bulging discs

I am 17 years of age and have had minor back problems on and off since I was 13. Although participating in any sport during this time didn't seem to take affect or cause any pain during exercise, there only seemed to be minor aching afterwards. However there was no initial cause to these symptoms. 14 months ago I was forced to stop all sport completely as I was un able to do as little as a jog without feeling a painful stabbing sensation in my hips and lower back. Over the year of injury ive had several months of failed chiropractic treatment and physio therapy which has lead to no improvement to my pain. I recently had an MRI which indicated I had two bulging discs in my lumbar spine, however I haven't experienced any sciatica,  my only symptoms include pins and needles in my calf's and weekness in my legs which have ocassionally given way. Despite these symptoms dieing down over the past couple of months. I am still in a lot of pain.  My main question is really,  how long does it take to fully recover from a bulging disc and will I be able to play football again. Also does my symptoms dieing down indicate my discs are getting better?  Thank you in advance.
