I the lower spine fusion over 6 years ago now and am now experiencing pain and discomfort in my neck and mid back.  I was hoping that it was just a lower back issue but obviously not.  I did hear there were other less evasive options now.  Are you having the full fusion with cage, bolts and bone graph?  Right now I doing ok with taking tramadol med. regularly.  I got through the first one fine though and have been working full time plus ever since so I know one can get through it ok.  I wore a brace for 3 months and did all the exercises PT taught me.  Best of luck with yours. Sounds like u have done ok too and just dealing with it as it comes.  Just keep smiling and thinking positive.

I am fused from L4 to L5 and L5 to S1 and I am going in on Wed. to be fused L3 to L4 .  I will be honest if you have Anterior and Posterior fusion with instramatation like I did it's going to hurt for the first couple of days after surgery. Now they donet do artifical disks and fusions.  Fusions are makeing the joints solid so you dont have a need for a disk with a fusion.
