Numb after surgery

I had surgery last year from L1 - S1 with plastic type cages put in and old titanium removed. Since that time I have been numb from my waist to my upper thigh area. Will this ever go away? I really want my feeling to return. Is there anything that I can do to help this?

Sorry, I had previous titaniam screws and rods and cages removed. Two days later I had plastic cages from L1-S1 placed. then in April of this year, I had the screws removed that was placed last July. But, the numbness has been since the July 2007 fusion. Does this help any?

With no knowledge of what type of back surgery,there is little one could give you in ways of an accurate diagnosis.
Only thing you can do is carry on exercise which your doc told.It will take time.
